Real weather real problem

Postby macca22au » Tue Aug 14, 2007 6:59 pm

I am unable to download real weather for a flight.

I know that I have an established internet connection yet it now always comes back with 'page not found'.

This is only a recent problem - although it may coincide with the installation of the reworked 737PIC - but I can't assume a causal link.

Even using the HELP function I cannot find the internet address for real weather that is embedded in the game; there is no links or track to it - and indeed I don't know what the address should be to enable me to check whether it is corrupted or not.

I would be grateful for assistance.

If it just started and has not been a day or so, give it time

Sometimes the weather server is down. Its been happening more with FSX that with FS9. If this is something that has been going on for a more than a day then there may be a problem.

You will find the address in the config file under the weather heading

WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.com
WeatherServerPort=80

Thanks Nick.  I did find a good article in the MS support pages, but missed the bit on the config entries.  I take it this is the usual fsx.cfg file - if it is I need to be whipped.  I look at that file every day, but mainly to make the alterations to TBM, swap time and FFTF and ignore the rest.

Turns out the problem was in the modem, where for some reason the config had been corrupted.  The tech says it may have resulted from an external site trying to 'force' its way in.

We get so used to FSX requiring constant adjustment that we look there first.  In this case FS was falsely accused.

It happens

Usually my router resets itself or at worse I just have to reboot it. Same with the modem.
