Radar for aviation aircraft FSX

Postby Flying Mouse » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:22 am

I remember back in 2002 most aircraft had installed a radar to detect other aircraft. I have not seen such in FXS.

Is there something available as a add-on?

I honestly like to know who flies in my comfort zone of 100nm.

Yea, if you go to simgameit.com and scroll down he has about 5-6 aircraft custimized with "radar". (it is actually just the ATC radar) Also, I believe there is an addon panel in the simviation misc. but I'm not too sure, just check it out...

some of my aircraft came with radar.  It picks up AI aircraft MOST of the time and player aircraft in multiplayer SOME of the time but not always.  Its very hit and miss.
If crashing is flying, I'm doing a pretty good job!

If you have FSX Deluxe, a radar gauge is included (radar.cab), but hasn't been added to any of the default planes. On this I may be wrong....Anyway, there was a T-38 with modernized panel featuring this radar that was posted awhile ago. If you are handy with panel editing, it's relatively straightforward to add this radar to any airplane you like.

Yes I have FSX Delux, havent seen the radar.cab file but will forsue browse around for it. Do you know where the radar details were posted.

I would gladly edit each of my planes panel file to load a radar, i assume it would be similar to the taxi controll where one edit the cfg file to use it.

All I might need is the lines that needs to be added into the cfg file...

Radar.cab is already in the FSX Deluxe installed program on your hard drive.  Its Radar.cab and already resident in your Gauges folder.  Give this a try in the panel.cfg, no promises - not tried it myself yet.  Let us know how you get on, can`t try it myself yet as I`m just downloading a payware plane.  Just trying to point you in the right direction.  Don`t worry if it doesn`t work, I`ll sort it later and get back to you all.

NVM I found the add-on in the misc page to add a radar to my planes, Thanx for the help peeps, really appreciated :)

I have integrated the FSX radar into the displays of the 737-800, A321,
CRJ-700 and a few others.

Unfortunately I am on an extended vacation in Europe and won't
be back to my "simulation rig" until late August.

Just adding the radar as a "popup" windown isn't difficult but it's
kind of a "kludge" when you can integrate it into the EFIS,
MFD or PFD as I have done. I know others have done some
similar integration and there may be something in the Avsim library.

I have added this into my panel CFG files and I like it thanx.

Firstly the map provides some rather complete information about other aircraft, even a tail behind the aircraft to indicate where it is going.

I also like the information where one can highlight a specific craft, once you do it turns red on the radar, then gives you loads of info, what type of craft, feet MSL, flight plans, speed and plenty more.

I fly with my other aircraft at full, so it helps to have a radar to avoid coming in 2 fast on aproach, possibly leading to a go around.

I use AISMOOTH but radar just add that little bit of extra info...

Thanx alot....

Hi,

I have also added the radar screen to my aircraft. However, I can see all the other aircraft on the screen but I can't see my own one. It is listed on the session info screen but when I click on it nothing happens. Is this normal or is there something I can do to bring my own aircraft up on the screen?

Many thanks for any help on this.

Hello: Here is the link to the G1000 radar panel: http://www.fsdownload.com/modules.php?n ... how=10#cat
I have it installed on one of my aircrafts. However, I havn't  installed the FSX's default so this panel may be the same as the default, not sure yet.

Anyone that did come the radar has not worked for me, like Olsen's Viper, one of the F-14's for FSX, and the P-3C.  And I do have Deluxe Edition.
