Suddenly Activation screen again!

Postby diga » Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:25 am

I have installed FSX and have 80 flying hours and 103 landings. Last week my monitor was broken and bought a Mitsubishi 22inch wide TFT monitor. Yesterday installed nVIDIA driver for the mother board. Today when I started FSX there was a screen asking me to Activate the product. I did it some months ago when I installed it for the first time. What was this re-Activate and any body had this problem?

This isn't EXACTLY related, but that has happened to me with my new install of MS Office. Don't even get me started on how much i hate the new activation system.

Its means the software either glitched or there was a change of hardware that took place... usually the first issue. Just reactivate it. If it wont or you get an error follow the instructions for the 1722 error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080, even if it does not show that error and retry the activation.

It kinda sucks having to reactivate after hardware upgrades. I have already used all my activations and now I need to call M$ every time I want to upgrade or reinstall MSFS. Lol

This happened to me before except it wasn't with hardware changes. It would only let me activate thrice. I reinstalled XP and then it worked again. No hardware changes were made. I reinstall XP every few months due to viruses or spyware/malware or whatever I get due to not having virus protection because they're all memory hogs and take away from FSX. But like I said, it lets me activate after I reinstall XP so it's all good :D

I think you can reactivate FSX 3 times. After that you need to call Microsoft.

Check my thread I had here awhile back, maybe on the second page now  ::)
There are some great step-by-step instructions on how to fix this issue as I had experienced the same issue.

Don`t worry about the times you install, MS had to have a rethink on it because of system builders, tweakers, flight sim enthusuasts making hardware changes, people doing upgrades over time.  Theirs nothing in writing but its a simple phone call sometimes managed without the aid of a translator, usually quite quick and pain free, no fat or gristle!  A few minutes out of your life for a lot of fun for weeks/months to come.  Some have the 1722 error and Nick has this well covered, always check with MS first to see if the problem has shown up in the past, before you start panicing.

I've had FSX crash and self-destruct a couple of times now, resulting in the
reactivation fiasco. I've decided to go the route that will make this a non-
issue for the time being...

Come on Gypsy, with the very greatest of respect and whilst understanding the underlying problems this forum and its users really cannot be seen promoting that method at all.  How long do you think this forum would last?  Not a good idea.....

I had the same issue months ago during a prolonged period of computer upgrades. When I got to the third re-activation I called and reached a customer rep who actually tried convincing me I needed to buy another copy of FSX if I wanted to keep using the program. Many expletives and two supervisors later I finally got my Reg completed but nonetheless very frustrating and in my opinion completely unneccesary.

SimV or any of the other highly respected and reputable simulator community sites does not condone nor allow any use or suggestion of use to the alternative methods which are by Microsoft definition, illegal.

There is only one way to run the software and that is by following the rules.

In case you may be wondering, those who use alternative methods do not go unnoticed. You didn

Google is your friend...a search for the FSX "c" word will put and end
to need to reactivate....
