seemingly random stalls

Postby coreservers » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:09 am

Just recently I've crashed on a couple of flights. Due to a seemingly random stall.

1st. Flying the Fokker 28 from malaga to Lisbon. Take off fine, went to auto pilot. speed set at 375knts increasing as altitude got higher.
Suddenly I noticed contrails, then all of a sudden the speed dropped to 165 knots and it stalled. try as I might I could not regain control and we plummeted 21000 feet to the ground. I tried to push throttle back to zero and then full. sure enough the engines responded, but the stall or IAS did not.

2nd. Landing a piper warrior at malaga.
All was going fine less than 1 mile out, then stall and pancake.

Anyone got any ideas??

I had the same problem with the default 744 on the Quito-Mission a few times: sudden stall and droped from heaven! But no solution...  :-X

Probably need more info, but the first thing that comes to mind, is airframe ice ?

The sim will replicate it, and once it builds to the point of stall, there is no recovering

As a rule of thumb it is allways advisable to turn on anti ice, pitock heat and engine anti ice if so equipped on any flight.

some people also experience a sudden climb when the auto pilot is engaged which can lead to a stall,
and the reverse when it is disengaged - a dive.

Trim has got out of sync, so when the autopilot is engaged/disengaged all hell breaks out.  It seems to be FSUIPC related.

It would seem that if you have the unregistered FSUIPC installed this is hard to overcome.

With the registered version you can go in an alter the Autopilot connect/disconnect behaviour.

I get random stalls when landing cetain flights in a 737. Really weird, the autopilot decided to try to fly the plan level at 10% pitch. Only thing i can do is disarm the AP. Just started happening and its the same flight i've done a 100 times, i can only presume its a bug.
