I got it installed

here's proof of dual core use!!

Image

I left my FSX.cfg file as it was to see what would happen. I was easily able to raise the frame lock 2 frames and slightly raise the autogen trees and building values.

The 747 never flew so smooth but I am also seeing the same thing as lacrossefan. A defined boost in performance but now I get these strange micro-stutters. I have not toyed with the driver settings like Threaded Optimization. It almost looks like the type of stutter i use to get in games before I applied the dual core hoxfix and patches for Windows XP.

I think I am going try a clean FSX.cfg file and work with it for a spell. Perhaps the FFTF is now completely messed up because both cores are chugging along

I am still trying to figure out these new settings....

:D

Yea, I would say both cores are getting stroked

Ok... Here are more pics.

DAMN COMPRESSION! I had to scale them back to 70% quality to get under 100kb.

Framerate was lower than I would of got as I had like 50tabs in Opera open with a memory hog known as msn in the background. Guys, this is NOT a small increment, this is a MASSIVE improvement. I have a Pentium 4 650 and a X850 and I EASILY got ATLEAST a 40% improvement. Stutters have gone too. On a quad core Kentsfield coupled with a Radeon HD 2900XT I would think you could EASILY run fsX maxed out minus autogen and Lightbloom.

Man, I WANT A KENTSFIELD AND HD 2900XT. That would run freaken AMAZING with Sp1.

P.S. I tihnk I heard a click when playing fsX with Sp1. It was coming from my case. Hmmmm........? Spark? wtf?

Ok....
SP1 has increased my framerates beyond my best expectations. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Well done!  :)

BTW, is there a list of exactly what was improved as far as  the "content" aspect of SP1  is concerned, besides the "water" fix?

Thank GOD! I can blow out all these candles now. Somebody get me a cheeseburger, I'm starving!

Downloaded and installed, and I hafta say I'm impressed. Both cores are now running hard.

The Tokyo Exec Shuttle mission is the place I've seen my machine falter the most. In the downtown section between Haneda and Shiodome, I've been getting highly erratic frame rates of between 08-13. Frame rates are still highly erratic, but I'm now getting 13.5-23. A substantial improvement- it's now smooth enough to set the bird down on that rooftop.  ::) Happy happy happy.

I'm now wondering about CPU temps. With both cores running now, it must be putting out more heat then before. Something I'll have to keep an eye on.... :-?

I'm curious also about what the 'content fixes' are.

No dual-core here.. just an overclocked 3700 and an overclocked 7800GT...

I won't quote FPS and all that stuff. I'll just say I'm MORE than pleased..

Now.. when everyone is on the same 64-bit/DX10 page (Vista, Hardware companies and the drivers).. I'll make the BIG upgrade

How big is the file? And based on my sig below, is it going to help? I stopped flying FSX because I was all over the place on the ground but once I was about 1000 ft off the ground it was as smooth as FS9. Just wondering as I am at work.  OH!!!! I gotta go call dad now!!! He flies too ;)
