secret island

:D   Okay, my curiosty was sparked and I went to missions, chose the Tokyo Exec and I was in a chopper with no co-pilot and no ATC.  Does anyone know anything about the location of the island, it sounds interesting with runway guns, an observatory, a cave and all the other stuff.  P.S. A chopper pilot I'm not.

don't worry, i am probably the worst helicopter pilot ever.
and the shockingly poor frs i get from my pc meant that it was near impossible, but i done it.
you just fly to the tower, pick up the people, then fly to the airport.
then a story gets unfolded, and you get to decid whether to follow the people or not.
if you so choose, you swap into a lear, or crj, can't remember which, and you follow them along the coast for what seems like forever.
then they turn towards the sea, and after a while, you see the island, and land

In this mission, the FPS get very low because Tokyo is full of specific buildings (I mean, non generic ones) which are using specific, precise, beautifull but heavy textures which will put your video card down to its knees.

Those buildings are not part of the autogen, but part of the Tokyo specific scenery (Tokyo is one of the highly detailled cities in the game, it has a specific scenery for it). If you want to gain FPS during this mission, turn your scenery slider down to its minimum. You do not need to modify your autogen slider. This will limit the amount of specific buildings to display, and the FPS will rise.

it appears only in the mission. If you fly there in free flight mode, you won't see it.

:D    I would like one more piece of info.... Where is the tower.  I've checked all sorts of maps and stuff and there is no mention of a "Shiodome Tower".

Well..... you could do the mission once, and right before you land on the island you can save it and fly it over and over again! Or you could complete the mission and before you click the little dialouge box that says "Mission successful!" you could save it and fly around some more!

guys, please read previous posts.

you cannot view the island in free flight.
the only time you can see it is when you do the tokyo executive mission.

:D  My version of FSX deluxe must not like me,  I start the mission, press on the "u" key and nothing shows up.  No compass, no directional arrow, zilch!  I did find a landing pad on top of a whitish building, land on it (don't ask me how I managed to do it) then beat it over to the required airport and managed to land again but zip happened.  I must need the directional finder to know where to land.  Oh well, it keeps me off the streets and I'll continue to look for the right places to land.

Maybe you have changed the key assignements ? And so the "U" key does not work anymore.
Sorry, I don't have my sim with me in these days so I cannot check for you, but anyway it would be a good idea to have a look in your key assignements, in case you can find the appropriate command.
