Google helps...but doesn't always turn up immediate solutions.


Try this:

- Install FSX with administrative rights
or
- Install FSX in safe mode
or
- Reinstall MSXML 6.0
or
- Turn off anti-virus software

You did not mention it but are you installing the SP1 on a CLEAN FSX install ?

This is the recommended way to apply the update.

I didn't go that far, I did a good cleanup instead.

Well okay, this is how it played out lol. My father had installed a copy of window's vista from my grandfather, witch I believe had created a number of flaws not including what is happening with FSX. Second, I told my father also to keep FSX clean or with add ons which don't overwrite any core default files, which is what I think happened. All in all, vista and FSX will have to be re-installed and lot's of backups will occur. Should work in the end, after all this work.
