I don't believe there is an index but it would have been a nice addition...

I did a GOOGLE search for "michigan seaplane bases" and got some information back. A list in FSX would have been great, but I think it would have been a very long and exhausting process to compile a list of every seaplane base in every area within the FSX world, so I can understand why the list doesn't exist. Web searches might be the best bet for now.

i cross referenced airnav.com and FSX for seaplane bases in the USA and found about a hundred in Alaska that were in FSX, there are at least 1 on every state in FSX some states have as many as 10 or 12 in FSX other states dont have any.

problem is, all of the ones i found really just start you out in the middle of an abandoned lake somewhere... there are no nearby piers or docks with other float planes, no cabin like FBOs or fuel pumps on the docks or anything like that - its just you and the water and nothing for miles around in most cases.

thats sort of what im looking for.

not just seaplane bases - but seaplane bases with things like docks and piers and other seaplanes etc... there are a couple of places like that in washington state (friday harbor) but the rest of the seaplane bases in the USA are just abandoned lagoons.

It would have been nice if they would have indicated which are water ports. I really do not believe it would have been that difficult.

Another option is to go into the map in the flight planner, and look in the area you want for an anchor, which denotes a seaplane base.

thanks ill give it a whirl.

what im really searching for is great seaplane bases with great scenery. ie. neat fbos, other seaplanes tied to a dock etc... seems like friday harbor and a couple of other places are the only ones with this type of scenery... all of the seaplane bases i have gone to are just in the middle of an abandoned lake.

Check out Seattle Wash. USA, Airport OWO Seaplanes. I just posted a few a few screenies in the freeware screenshot forum titled Seattle Screenshots. It's a pretty nice area to fly seaplanes around.

There's a pack of small airports all across Alaska, and I think some of them are seaplane bases if I remember correctly.
However, with all the coasts, rivers and lakes in Alaska-Canada, I would say it would be a good idea to look for the addons made for those areas, you would get a good chance of finding what you(re looking for.

Here is a link in which you(ll find some sceneries classified per country (FS2004 sceneries, but most work perfect with FSX of course):
http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004/alaska.php
and, on the same site
http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004/canada.html

enjoy ! :)
