I noticed if I set this to small the ground below is blurie, If I set it to large it is very clear.

So what you are saying is it changes the level of detail?

Who would have thought it.

And for John: sorry for the satirical answers here ;)
The level of detail radius is simply an option that defines how far from you the scenery should appear as detailled.
If you set this slider to the minimum, that means that you want the scenery to be detailled on a very short distance.
If you set it to the max, that means that you want to see all the possible details as far as possible.
This settings is there for the performance. Less details means better frame rates.

Not satire, just plain sarcasm.  But all serious users of FSX can be excused - every slider and every setting has been readjusted to exhausion.  Forgive us.

Truth be told, at the risk of sounding like a noob, it helped me. :) I have been playing sim for years, but always on older worthless computers. Therefor I never really messed with any of the graphics settings. They would kill my PC. I now have a very nice semi-high end PC and am just starting to learn how to tweak it. I saw this setting the other day and it just didn't click as to what was meant by it. Now it makes sense. Although, the sarcasm was funny. I'm sure I will recieve a few sarcastic comments as I muddle through the arduous task of fine tuning everything. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. ::)
