Quick question. How will SP1 effect my FSX?

Postby Isak922 » Fri May 18, 2007 8:46 pm

I'm sure this is asked a lot  ;D

Anyways, I got FSX when it first came out (Deluxe edition... had to drive about 40 minutes to get one  ::)). When I fiddled with the settings, I found out that I could either run the sim with everything to the left (Except the Aircraft slider, which was either maxed, or the next one down), or I could run it with Every tab between low-medium settings (Except Autogen, I believe). With either of those, I would get around 10fps or so. Flyable, but not too fun.

How much better will it run with SP1 installed, now that it's out.

My System (As far as I know), is an e-Machine T3256 (3.2Ghz processor, 512mb pc2700 RAM) with a non-stock video card (ATI Radeon 9550). Can someone with a comparable system tell me how well FSX runs with SP1 installed? I really liked the game at first, but I just couldn't fly after being spoiled by my FS9's 30+FPS average with the lowest it gets in the 20's  ::)

Isaak:  read the thread, FSX-SP1 Released, and you will see the benefits that so many simmers are getting from SP1.  I am also surprised that your rig is giving you such a poor performance and there are experts whom I am sure can help.  But read the thread - after all if your 10 goes to 12 frames, and the presentation smooths out you are back into FSX.

Hi,

My first guess would be that 512 Mb of RAM (if I read it correctly) is al little low. With 2 or 3 Gb you'll probably see a big improvement (also in FS9 I guess).

If that 3.2 GHZ processor is the Celeron one that e-machines (accually a Gatway made machine sold as an economy buy) sells, the ram increase will help a little, but not much.

Isaak!  Be careful.  I have a T3410 running XP with 2 gig mem.  Loaded SP1 and FSX would not open.  I did a repair install but that did not work either.  Now to do the final solution.  Which I dread.  Remove and re-install.
