I am Uninstalling FSX....

FSX including FSX Steam version.

I am Uninstalling FSX....

Postby Fly2e » Wed May 16, 2007 3:59 pm

And then reinstalling it with a new clean version and then SP 1.

Just a question...
If I remove FSX, will the uninstallation of FSX cause ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY FS9 program?

I know they are 2 totally different programs but I thought I have heard some rumors from people who have uninstalled FSX only to find that they now have a problem with FS9.

Can anybody verify this?

Thanks in advance.

2 different animals with different homes and different reg keys.. I cant fathom how people had problems unless they did something stupid like custom install FSX into the FS9 folder.

I do not see any problem

LOL

You are one of the few that have a connection to the 'bat-phone'

You are welcome to use it whenever.

Just dont send up the "full" bat signal unless its a real emergency. The cost to power up the bat boat and bat cave are killing me

I think it's time to have a few down at the pub!  ;D
It is allot cheaper!

I uninstalled Fsx and never had a problem with FS9 (which I am now using). No problems at all, they are two totally different installs!

Well I uninstalled FSX.
Ran my O&O procedure and will be reinstalling this weekend.

Strange though....
After I uninstalled FSX, I went to start FS9 and I had 2 problems, both were payware programs.

1. I needed to re-register my Active Camera
and
2. I had to reroute my Active Sky back to FS9.

No big deal at all, strange that it would somehow "touch" those programs.
Any ideas Nick?
Could it have to do with some sort of module that was placed outside of FS9 that both FSX and FS9 use?

I flew FS9 for a an hour and I did not notice anything else out of the ordinary.

Not sure.. since I do not use either and no longer have FS9 installed I can not say but a guess would be the external programs somehow registered to both at some point. Did you install AC and AS to FSX? If so, thats probably why.

FS9 itself should not be changed in any way but add-ons that may be used for both could be.

If you did not install those items to FSX then the only other possibility I can think of is FSX, or an addon such as JEtPack NG ot other AC/Scenery that uses active camera in its install has some type of native connection to those items and forces a change or registers it in such a way if FSX is uninstalled the license or install path may be erased
