My parts came in. Installation was a success, but I have a slight problem:

The Swiftec heatsink is too close to the Zalman and you can hear it vibrating when it's on. I disconnected the power to the Swiftec fan and it went away, but it's pointless not having it on.

Any solutions, Nick?

That was the only question I had about the combo.. guess you answered it.

The fan on the chipset HSF is needed on that board because of the heat that thing puts out.

my suggestion is to CAREFULLY bend the fins on the Zalman to allow the clearance. That will not cause any significant loss of heat transfer and allow the clearance needed to run the fan.

Hold it... you have the Zalman on backwards... the fan must point to the REAR of the tower so the air blows to the back. The way you have it sitting it will blow air to the front of the tower


Make sure those rear fans BLOW OUT the back, not suck air IN.. the side door fan blows air IN, not out

I do have another suggestion too.. those perf holes are blocking airflow for those fans terribly. If I were you I would cut the perf metal out of the fan center area so the fans can breath 5 times more than they can now and it will also reduce the temp the the tower, ...

Also, my swiftec problem is gone now that the zalman is facing the correct way.

Excellent.. I would definitely open all the fan port holes. That will really make a difference in noise and temp  (just the fans, not all the perf)

also, move the wires so they are not in front of the chipset fan.. try and keep all wiring low to the board and back from it on the side to allow the max airflow to circulate around the motherboard.

I have more than 150 fans ,Really no kidding ,all damages power sources use those 12v fans(all are used to take replacement part ,It  a cementery of Old pcs in my workshop) , ,Im worried about the temperature in the HDDs ,Video Card, and prosessor :-/,I won't cover my pc with Fans neither as one of the earlier shots , But I'm considering something , something little crazy, but I'm worried about MAGNETIC fields of the fans ,near the Hdds..

This was very strange..... I've been trying to boot up for the past 3 hours with no success. My previous OC settings got wiped out. Finally I reinstalled everything to see if I missed something. It must of worked cuz I'm back now. Very strange....

It sounds like you may have had a connection loose. I have had that happen before. I have even had a processor do that to me. Took it out and put it back in and the system fired up. Same with memory modules. I have had more than one needed to be reseated after moving things around.

The system wont boot if the motherboard does not see a CPU fan connection. Its possible that may have been loose too.

Same here. I have been trying to log in off and on for a few hours. When I finally got logged in it has taken 15 minutes just to post this message.

I remember I had a tower refuse to boot after I replaced the thermal compound. I found out I had the heatsink juusssst a touch crooked and that was enough to keep it from booting. Reseated and away it went.

Mmmm there's only one rectifier bridge in every power source(~+-~)or (+~~-) IF only If the problem shows again try to connect your new fan or all of them in another power souce ,an AT perhaps an oldie
