Just to be sure of things... when you take a flight and all seems to remain stable, when finished, before exiting FSX snag a shot of the temps and CPUz CPU -and- Memory tabs

Its possible it may not remain stable even at 2 Clocks

If that happens you will have no choice but to go back... I will have to look in the thread as to what it was you ran clean

I assume that is at 1 Clock

I think we have found your sweet-spot for the hardware you have installed

OK

We have come a long way and now I suggest you fly on that for another day.

How is the flying?   Notice any differences?

I have it locked at 20.

Thanks for your help. I owe it all to you.

About the video card settings; I read on a forum that someone OC'ed their GTS 640 to 650/1000.

[quote]I understand. What I do not understand is how my system can perform the same or better than yours in the same scene. I set my system and sim up to your monitor scale and had no significant reduction in frames. Also, the wing tips were both on the screen like they were in the 1900x1280 shots so I am not sure what is going on with your system.

I assume you have not made any terrain.cfg or camera.cfg file edits and those files are the originals?

I want to try the following just to see what happens.

1. Save a copy of your current FSX.cfg file, then delete the original from the FSX directory.

2. Start the sim, it will write a new config file. Set everything up as follows. You can turn off the silly sound that plays.

Please pay careful attention to each area.. you will notice things like aircraft labels are OFF. Please set up FSX as I show below!!

NOTE: I made some changes after snaging these shots so please note the changes.

frame lock is at 24, not 28.

Set the MESH RESOLUTION to 19m, not 10m

Set GA to 20 and Airlines to 40 Road Vehicles to 10

Anything else is up to you but for now, leave it at default. Save and close FSX.

3. Open the newly written FSX.cfg file, scroll down and change/edit ONLY the following

[quote]Its too long didn't fit as a quote!!

But definaly this has made improve my FSx performance in a 150% much better now :D ,I don't know how it did it ,maybe was the AutogenDescriptions.spb file,I don't know,I don't have a double core, neither a 8880 but I can fly with buildings and trees and no visiblwe frames (20-25)in a 747

I know john is away for a day or so and when he gets back and sees that snag and those frames I am sure he will be salavating

I'm back.

I see things have perked up!

Too bad about the clock. Do you think better memory and a power supply would make it run at the frequency you were hoping for like it did mine?

Thanks for the insight, Nick.

I might just do a little careful tuning myself...
