Miltest,

I downloaded the autogen file, set all my settings according to yours and adjusted my video drivers.

These are my results (Zoom 1.0):

Zoom at 1.0?? It looks like something got fixed because widescreen view FALSE is showing the aircraft correctly on the screen witht e wing-tips showing. Is that 1.0 in the first shot or did you zoom back to 80%?

Did you take the Seattle flight and if so, how was it?

Good visuals? Sharp textures?

a stuttering mess?

;)

Zoom 1.0 on both screenshots. I noticed about the wing-tips too.

So far so good. I have 2 options: I either fly with wideview off or on. Still debating.

It looks to me like your monitor is not displaying wide screen properly. The only thing that should have changed is the side to side distance but in your case, switching to widescreen shows the aircraft down the runway.. almost like the display is stretching the Z axis.

I would say try it flying both modes and see which you feel comfortable with the zoom levels in naturally.

OK so Seattle looked good to you? Good scenery and smooth?

If thats the case, next.. fire up the Default 747.. take the same flight and see how it feels to you... you may need to go a bit further up the coast before turning around. Since the 747 is a bit of a heavy hitter it will show us how much head room you have to crank things up a tad (it may not be much)

I was averaging 9 - 11 FPS. I know you told me not to have it on but I had to cheat a little.

I was wrong about the display... it looks correct now. (old eyes) :)

Alright so the counter was 9-11... so I assum it was a bit sluggish, correct?

However their R600 due to be released over the next month or so, will in fact run circles around it.

What the? Miltestpilot said EXACTLY that. Some wording and all.  ;D

Actually, it wasn't that bad. Only time it was sluggish was when I was changing from interrior to exterrior views.

alright, that says allot and so does that picture. I think we are in the ballpark to getting you tweaked. Try the 747 flight and compare it (how it feels) to the first flight around. Make sure you reboot the computer before you start.

As you can see, that frame counter is addictive. at 10 you were getting about 15. I we can get that up another 5 or so, you be in business.

It may very well be your TFT does not like widescreen support in games... but it does look like it is displaying correctly now.

You want me to do the same flight with the 747? Just making sure..

How low? How high?

Just around the block like the other flight but you will have to go up the coast a bit further to turn around. Take it up to about 7000

I just want to know if that flight produces the same fairly smooth response or does it get real choppy. That will indicate how far we need to trim back on settings so all your flights are smooth

Based on that picture I would say we have your frame lock is just about right. I also want you to let me know how ground textures looked and if they were sharp, a bit blurred, and if they were a bit blurred did they sharpen while you looked down at them.

Switching veiws will make things a bit stumbly. You have to remember, when you switch views things have to load up. We will address that too but first things first. Let me know how the 747 flight went

The flight was ok.... The ground textures were a little blurry until they straightened themselves out

The quality of the images are a little low it's cuz I'm trying to keep them under 100k so I won't get hanged by the mods.

Overal I was averaging 11 - 12 FPS

That says quite a bit. You were getting a bit higher frame with the 747 than with the maul and what is important is it did not turn into a complete slide show.

Alright, lets try reducing the auotgen slider 1 notch. Also, fly the next flight with the Maul but set wide screen to FALSE.

Lets see how that looks

I know this seems like a lot of going back and forth but it does have a purpose.

deleteing the fsx.cfg and changing the driver settings is more than likely what fixed the wide screen aspect ratio. It is good to see that is now displaying as it should.

I dont want to butt in, but there is a setting I would like you to change in the drivers.

Threaded Optimization: OFF

When you make that change, repeat a flight that you already did and see if there is a positive, negative or no affect on the flight

If you are not sure with the first flight, you may need to repeat it a few times with it on and off. We are looking for a very positive or negative change. If you see no difference, set it back to ON

Would you please post a link to the manual for your motherboard or point me to the right document? I would like to take a look at it and may ask a few questions.
