SP1 Release Possible Next Week....

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Once again, I am compelled to remind everyone of the dynamics of an FS release.

Every single version of FS since FS2000 has had people screaming their heads off about frame rates and patches.  By the time the next version rolls around, everyone has gotten the previous one to run well, and subsequently gets sticker shock when the new version comes out.

In two years, you will all be bitching about how crappy FS11 runs and 'Wasn't FSX just lovely!'

So why don't we all just accept that we will eventually love this version and save some breath?

Wise words, and fortunately most simmers are mature people who have learned the rules of an unforgiving world.  On the other hand the me generation expect everything to be perfect out of the box, and that it is someone else's responsibility to fix up the hitches.  My problem is that I am telling myself already that FSX will be my last upgrade, and yet I know that I will be in the line for XI and hope that Nick and others can help me through the transition once again.  That is the fun of Flight sim, the cost and the pleasure - learning and tweaking have almost become more interesting than flying.

FS9 = apples
FSX = oranges

you can not compare apples to oranges

Sure you can, Nick. They're both fruits :D

OK, I will translate that statement because I understand what he said and some people only read numbers

Everyone but low end machines ( our ridiculous min-spec ) should see the 20%

1. Phil recognizes the minimum machine specs the marketing department uses to sell the product is trash. I think people should give him credit for the type of communication he puts out. What he is saying is anyone running the lower end systems will see little or no change at all. Those running average game systems, such as a decent P4-A64, 1g+ of memory and 7800-x850xt video adapters (and up to the next level)

Its a matter of personal choice, some people may apple - FS9 while others will enjoy the 'Sweeter' Orange -FSX

The fruits of Aces labour will come to fruition the middle of next week at the earliest.  Provided there isn`t a bad apple in the barrel it will be released then.....
