Uninstalling FSX

Postby Bubblehead » Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:01 pm

Tried to remove FSX using the Control Panel\Add-Remove program but after the Install Shield progess bar reach about half way, the uninstall quits. Any any other proper way of removing the FSX from the drive?  will formatting the drive erase the software. there is not much in that drive except FSX and Program Files. I intend to use the drive to load FSX DeLuxe in another more powerful PC.

Deleting the folder and doing a registry cleanup (there's tools for that) will work, too.

Maybe try inserting dvd#1, there may be an option in the setup menu to uninstall (similar to FS9).

Try deleting the FSX folder from your program files.
Hope all is well in your world today

I uninstalled FSX because I didn't like it very much and wanted to reinstall FS9.

Here's how to uninstall FSX...

Put disk 1 of FSX into CD/DVD drive and let it autorun. Look for the window (SETUP) that asks you if you want to install or uninstall. Then process with the uninstall. This will take a very long time to uninstall. Be patient. It worked for me. I'm now running FX9 again. This is a more reliable product.

I found too many bugs with FSX. Maybe my hardware can't handle FSX.

I tried that. No joy. It started to go through the installation process (Progress box in upper right hand corner of the screen) so I stopped it. As suggested I systematically deleted the folders (18G worth), run the Registry Mechanic. I formatted the drive and removed it as I will use it in another PC.

I'm hangin on to my FS9. FSX is too finicky.

Effessex runs on my machine, but it just doesn't run with the fluidity of FS9. I don't bother to play it anymore...
