I know someone who claims a 60% improvement in frames (and of course less stutters) with SP1. I hope this is true..... but doubt it....

I know someone who claims Elvis is still alive, but we just smile and let them believe it!

Yeah I doubt it a 60% improvement, but I beleive he may really have SP1 beta as he sent me fsX beta shots, many, many months before fsX really came out.

I believe 60%

If you drop the sliders

No one can estimate a percent increase on that update, simply because everyone wants to run the software differently. Some are just going insane with the sliders and the hardware they use, others do not tweak their config files and do not even know how too.

When PTaylor posted 20% he was being conservative for a reason. There will be some who get that update and do stupid things like jack everything up and get on the net and tell everyone SP1 sucks and doesnt work. Others will try the update on hardware that has no business running FS9 much less FSX and will make the same claims.

The bottom line is, if the hardware meets the specs for the software and software is set up correctly for the hardware running it based on those specs, you will see at least a 20% increase, possibly more.

the key words there are "hardware meets the specs for the software "

If you have to dream, why don't you dream about the 6000/6000 instead ? :P
(I would be very curious to see the visual result, by the way...)

Until now ,in wich a frame rates talking, I don't have any complaints ,I have a very decent view. But I hate the shape of the buildings(and I realize is not any landclass or a scenery add it ,It set it like that

Hey Alrot, I have a config which is quite close to yours:
Pentium IV 3,2GHz (no Hyper Threading).
1 Gb of RAM
Nvidia 6800 GT 256 Mb RAM.

I had a look to your settings and I think you can get something better:
- limit your frames to 19, it will save a lot of ressources for rendering your scenry while flying
- switch the water to High 1x, unless you really want to keep those reflections...
- push the autogen density to dense, and keep the tweaks in the FSX.cfg to 800/800
- push the scenery detail radius to max
- push the mesh complexity to max, I didn't see any performance impact on my PC
- push the mesh resolution to 38 meters if you get good perfs with the settings above.
- install the resized autogen textures, for trees and buildings
- install the modified autogen variety files (I think you have already done that, right ?)

What do you think ?

For the tweak, yes this is right.

For the resized autogen files, I am using the following ones:
reduced_trees.zip
reduced_trees2.zip (there was some missing tree types in the first file)
reduced_clouds.zip
reduced_defautl.xml.zip
resautogentexfsx.zip
autogendescriptions.zip

If they are not available on simviation, you might get them on avsim.
I think I have found the instructions on how to use what on this page:
http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/in ... opic=92583
You might find some usefull links there, and if you have questions, we here can help you as well ;)

Here are 2 screenshots of my FSX with ground scenery shadows on & off.

Frame locked @ 20 using default LC for these 2:

Without ground scenery shadows. Capped at 20.

Oh ! I completely missed the ground scenery shadow issue, well said Black ZR-1 !  :)

Alrot, those buildings may be the result of prevous patches you have applied in the past, I don't know.
Perhaps you could tell me where did you take the above screenshot, so that I could take a screenshot in my own FSX at the same place to compare ?

PS: I remember about a file named "roofdescriptions.spb" or something like that, that would influence the variety of buildings in city. Unfortunately, I cannot find it back on my hardrive (where I save all the files I download for my FS), and I can't remember if I applied this file in the past or not...

Alrot, from your previous replies on the forum concerning scenery issues, I suppose you have posted some shots of Valencia in Venezuela, right ? Here is how it looks like on my PC with my current settings:

The airport is in the hole, not far away behind me. The scenery is full stock, no mesh, no landclass.
The default 182 from FS9 really looks great in FSX, don't you think ?
