Install Commericial Repaints? someone please help!

Postby tree269 » Sun Apr 29, 2007 5:20 pm

I was wondering how to addon commercial airline repaints like delta to the original boeing 737 i downloaded some from simviation and i read the installation guide but it says the following.

I get the texture.delt part but i do not get the [fltsim.x] sequence part? I also do not get the aircraft.cfg file part? How do i acess this?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

737-800 Delta

737-800 Delta Texture files Aircraft:  Texture Files Only for the 737-800 FSX

Good idea to back up any original files.

1.Unzip downloaded folders to a Temp directory on your system.

2.Copy Texture.HapL into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\
Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800

Add this entry into your 737-800 Aircraft.cfg file
Paste it in sequence right after the last [fltsim.x]. Rename "fltsim.X" to next number in sequence ie: fltsim.8 etc

[fltsim.x]

However, it wasn't always that way\s in the first few years of production, there were so few orders that Boeing considered canceling the program. They didn't, and the airplane has more than proven itself in over three decades of service."

Thank You for flying with Delta Airlines :)

Note: These textures are not for reuse. Please make your own. They are only for the intended Plane i made them for.

Re-paint done by Frank McCall "BoeingBigJet".

So i do not know how to do this is there anybody that knows how to put it into easier words or post a video on youtube or something because i do not get the above at all. :-?

i think you downloaded repaints not full aircraft. Some one else is probably better suited to help you with this cause i dont mess with repaints

Those instructions seem clear enough to me. To install the new texture you need to extract the zipfile (which I assume you've already done) & find a folder named Texture.Delt. Paste this folder into the FSX default B737_800 folder.

See if this helps with that Aircraft.cfg edit. http://www.simviation.com/lair/Repaint2002.htm
It's for FS2002 but the principle is exactly the same. You would obviously use the [fltsim.x] entry you posted above instead of the one in my tute.

Before going any further perhaps you should read my Windows Basics & Working with Windows articles. ---> http://www.simviation.com/lair/Windows%20Basics.htm

Meanwhile I''m downloading that Delta repaint to check it out.

Right. I've checked that file out. There is a mistake in the instructions but otherwise it all looks OK to me. It seems that the author somehow mixed up the texture folder name & the Aircraft.cfg entry. The texture= line must point to the correct texture folder or it won't work. In this case the folder name is texture.Delt. The corresponding CFG entry for this folder will be texture=Delt

Sorry, I have to go soon & I won't be around for a few days. If I could explain this any better I would. Maybe someone else can do better. I have no idea how to create a video, never mind post it on YouTube.

PS. Please read my tutes carefully. They have helped hundreds of newbies over the years.

Usually you have a whole series of these statements

[fltsim.0]

[fltsim.1]

[fltsim.2]

[fltsim.3]

[fltsim.4]

[fltsim.5]

[fltsim.x]

Mine has about 20 in, yours might be say 7.  whatever the last number is then paste your set in at the end of the original sets and renumber the x to whatever is the next number in sequence in YOUR file.  In this example....

[fltsim.x] becomes [fltsim.6]

If I do have 20, then my next one would be [fltsim.21], if you do have 7 and the last one is 6 (starts from zero) then your next one would be [fltsim.7].  Just increment by one each time.
