Aaaah I remember those distant far off days when programmes released by M(qualcosa)s were just as bug ridden!!! Can anyone remember. The early versions of DOS with Format c:\ Y/N      If you pressed Y it did it without further ado. No "Are you sure?" They may make a flight simulator but have you noticed that they are not allowed anywhere near real aviation. Their software is simply not reliable anough for real aviation

How anyone could assume I was  refering to XP activation is beyond me!
Also, this is a legal copy of FSX!!!

Anyway, here's a pic.
I should add that FSX was already activated but, now it is locked in the "trial version" mode.

MS has acknowleded that there are various problems with FSX actvation.
This is MS we are talking about! This issued definately illustrates the shoody programing on this release! They could not even progam the activation correctly after all their experience with XP activation.

"Reinstalling the application may resolve the problem"? "May" resolve the problem?
MS evedently does not even know what the problem is!

Re-installation may indeed solve the problem (give it a try,) but will most likely generate a 1722 error, followed by a 1603 error.
Fix here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080

Read the instructions carefully - they can be a little confusing if you're not used to entering commands from a DOS prompt.

Wow the first question may be, how did you activate it?
I never have crossed this problem so far, and the only way it could have possibally,
-happened was by pirating...,
-M$ giving you the wrong activation key,
-A addon which de-structured the default setup (corrupting),
-accidentally deleting the key,
-Downloading some sort of Virus... etc list goes on and on.

What came to mind was, you don't have to believe this but I have sort of a philosophical train of thought..

Well imagine a person downloading a pirated copy for how long impossibly a month or longer, 17gig of file size, that will take a long time, lets jump to the completion he had downloaded it fully, installed it and came across this same error using a wrong key...And had become very angry, because it was such a waste of time. How much does this make sense .. Honestly? ;) ;D

There is no real of how I can help other then re-install and follow "dsdawson" plan, or contact M$

-cheers, SN

Because all the so-called support will tell me is to re-install FSX!

Let me say again and stress, this is a legal copy of FSX!!

However, there is now a C***k out and MS has forced me to use it. My totaly legal copy of FSX has been re-activated...no thanks to MS!

Let's keep in mind what is a stake here.
There is evidently some kind of bug that causes de-activation given the right set of circumstances (whatever they may be) and it has to be assumed that it can strike at any time.

I totaly support activation and most anti piracy efforts.
However, I'll be damned if I will re-install FSX if this happens again.
I will

I had to call microsoft technical support this week cause office 2003 screwed up.
A very nice lady suggested I have a coffee, then "took control" of my pc for over an hour, reconfigured all the software and now its fine.
I dont know why I was so surprised that they were so nice & helpful-maybe we are all a bit cynical these days- but it might be worth calling them whilst you have still got some hair left. ;)

If you read my last post you will realize that my problem  was quickly solved via a "third party solution"without spending over an hour on the phone etc.
I flatly refuse to jump through those contrived hoops just to use software I have paid for.

Like I previously said support would have told me just to reinstall FSX anyway which I refuse to do if there is a much easier option avalible.

MS support is just good fun
spend 5 mins on hold
talk to some foreign women who cant understand you and vice versa, spend 10mins giving your email, phone number and address, then spend 10mins trying to explain the problem, then you get a generic bit of speech about customer support, then the explanation of whats going to happen and then you get put through to the people you want to talk to, which involves a 30min hold on average and that music gets really boring.......

however activation help is really good and helpful i found when i had to activate over the phone :D and the women spoke English with an English accent so i must of been the lucky one that day :P
