My Jetways Stopped Working: FIX

Postby reider » Wed Apr 11, 2007 6:43 am

This is not a fix for those people who never had jetways working in the first place, this is purely for those whose jetways stopped working out of the blue in the last few days, around the 7th April.

My jetways stopped working, they were perfect in all airports.  I tried different positions, I tried different airports, aircraft.  I checked my settings to make sure all were as they should be.  I checked my video driver, it was ok but I uninstalled and reinstalled it anyway.  Every change to work it out was followed by a reboot and check again all the settings and try it with different aircraft/airports and even several different jetways in each airport.  I even had a look at the EXITS section in the aircraft.cfg

Whilst looking for something totally unconnected in 'my documents' I spotted my DX April update and realised it was from the 7th April, around the time the problem started!!!  I quickly used 'restore' and for safety put my system back to around the 2nd April.  Went back into EGCC Manchester, UK and found a spare jetway.  Lo and behold it now works again!  Success.

Hope someone finds the info useful,

Reider

When you say DX april update, do you mean directx?

Yes, its Direct X 7th April version, the later one that came out didn`t have the problem according to someone who tested it and reported back.

FWIW: I continue to read in the Microsoft site and other forums / sites that the 2007 Directx upgrades / Directx 10 will only work properly if the graphic card supports it / them...Vista or not. If the graphics card doesn't support the upgrades / Directx 10, then problems will arise with the game / sim. Many are stating that they are now going to have to find new graphics cards that support the new Directx. Feel free to correct anything in this post if I've been mis-informed...no problem...I'm still gathering info myself.
