ATC Static

Postby crocker » Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:06 pm

Can anyone help me please. I've just loaded FSX for the first time - no problems. Graphics look good and I'm pretty happy with what I see. I've been a simmer for a few years now and was a bit reluctant to leave FS9. Happily still got it firmly on my drive. I seem to have a problem in FSX with ATC and static and only on receive. I can't hear the controller just static. Pilot's transmissions are OK - clear as a bell. The other strange thing is I get this static sometimes when lowering flaps. This may be something which has been raised before in the forum and I apologies it it has. I did find a brief reference to it during a search but could find no solution. I hope someone can help. I may be wrong, but I have heard that running FS9 & FSX on the same drive, can lead to problems, I am running FSX on a second internal 40gb hard drive, so far there has been no sign of any interaction with either.

I have FS9 and FSX on the same computer with no trouble, they should not conflict as they are totally seperate programs.

Have you modified anything in the sound folder? And have you tried re-installing?

Thanks guys for your input. I think I've solved the problem. I have onboard sound. But with a pretty good m/board. I went into dxdiag and tweaked the Hardware Acceleration Level slider to a level which accepted FSX. Glad to report that static etc has now gone and no noticeable depreciation to sound - I wear cans. Appreciate your suggestions.  Crocker
