FS2004 Textures...

Postby bowler_man » Tue Feb 27, 2007 10:32 pm

Okay, so I've read that most FS2004 textures will work with FSX. I have personally found that to not be true. I have noticed that they don't come with a "texture.cfg" file, unlike FSX textures. Is that why they don't work? Also, the texture files are in JPEG form. Can FSX read that? Why won't they work?

Hold on there , what do you mean? it comes with sort of add lines for back ground and better support,
like

fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

This is not {ecencial} for the performing the tex in FSX, I just made a plane for FSX ,It should be post it tomorrow I even make a correction in the XML makemdl part T ADD the landing lights and the transparancy glass ,I'm not using the new complex SDK FSX yet ,but its the samething...and who told you that FS9 supports *.jpg? only some *.r8 for scenery stuff, but only Bitmaps DTX and 888-1 normal Bmp 14 /24 bits wont work in aircraft at all, and *.dds works in FSX it only have to be flip the image ,I did but i didn't saw any diference so I let it in BmpDtx 3

Perhaps you are confuse with a jpg file inside texture folder name thundarnail ,those are the shot to be in the menu for FSX

Most FS9 a/c do work inn FSX. One of the differences being that in the given texture file in FSX there has to be a "Thumbnail.jpg" file which is basically the "Screenshot" that appears in the selection screen. Otherwise FSX puts a default generic a/c type picture. Some of the FS9 a/c in FSX will be missing the "glass" which is what Alex was alluding to. BUT the a/s if properly installed would still show up in the sim.

Well, I'm talking about JUST repaints for default planes in FSX. With FS2004 repaints, there is no texture.cfg file, and all the pictures are in JPEG, which for FSX repaints, they are something like DDS. I don't really how to explain it good.  :-/
