How Do You Stay Interested?

When I first got this game I was flying all the time.  But once I completed all the missions and went through most of the training flights I lost interest.  I've flown a few state-to-state flights, just hopping around or doing some sight seeing, but I can't get motivated to play anymore.  I've upgraded my computer and that helped bring me back, but it didn't last long.  It's just that once I get airborne and up to cruising altitude and trimmed straight and level I get bored and start looking for somewhere to put it down, usually well before reaching my destination.

What do you guys do to keep you flying and coming back for more?  What am I missing?

have you tried multiplayer where you can act as ATC???  Thats quite a fun challenge??

well, an appreciation of aviation.
A sense of adventure. Try flying into some dangerous airports.
Change the mission aircraft to make it more of a challange
thats just a couple of ideas of what to do.

Its just like anything else a person likes to do. Do it everyday until you burn out, take a few day off and you can go back and see what you missed the last time

It helps a lot to have a certain twisted mentality with a sick sense of humour along with a penchant for annoying the crap out of the wife with constant playing, endless day trips to out of the way air museums and air shows, and cluttering up her living room with all kinds of obscure planes that she has can in no way identify and has ABSOLUTELY no interest in!

Master navigation and instrument flying  :)

Leave the darn GPS off; Use VORs and NDBs to get you to an airport; and then end it all with a precision approach in 1 mile visibility...

I would get bored too if I only flew airliners like some people enjoy, but that's the beauty of FS. You make it what you want. Me? I love to fly around at low altitudes in my little prop aircraft exploring new places. I spent a lot of time in the Alaska area, so I was always downloading new bush scenery. I would fly my various bush aircraft to different camps and outposts in Alaska with RW weather. To make things more interesting and challenging, I never used the GPS to navigate. I primarily nagivated using real sectional charts, compass, and nav radios. It gives a whole new meaning to IFR (I Follow Rivers) flying in Alaska. Also, start flights and make goals. I always started a flight where I left off before. If I was in Alaska and downloaded some new scenery for another area, I would fly there. I enjoyed making long cross country flights, even with short legs. For example, sometimes I would pick one of my favorite GA props, and fly a long trip down a coastline, or across the states visiting different areas.

The sky is the limit. Try new things and challenge yourself 8-)

You know, that may be what it is, that I need to keep the GPS off.  It's just so handy .  

Keep it to the "lower tech" rides instead of the jets.  I do like the Goose quite a bit.

Most of my flying involves Lock On and IL2, so I'm used to having clear-cut goals laid out in front of me.

You want fun. I'll give you fun. Use the 747 and slew up to 50,000 feet and cut the engines and try to glide down to land.

Do something that isn't so "routine" during a flight, Its way too boring. Try flying some smaller planes, and adding some severe weather.

Begin your journey to the "Dark Side" of home cockpit construction.  You'll never be bored again!  Overwhelmed......yes.  Frustrated....yes.  Poor....yes.  Bored.....never!

Fly some flights you've been on in real life or just try to do some airline flying.

There's nothing better than doing a one or two hour flight in a 737.
On take off and landing, you're in control, in between you just kick in the auto pilot, handle the ATC, sit back and enjoy the scenery while listening to the babbling of the other traffic.

There's nothing better than a sunset at FL320.  8-)
