Vista + ReadyBoost = WOW!

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Vista + ReadyBoost = WOW!

Postby nowmormat » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:07 pm

I just popped a 2g SD card (I could not find a decent usb key in the store) in my box.
What a difference it makes! :o

I've Flown a little bit in the 172 and 737, guest what?
No more hard disk hiccups! No more hesitations on landings, 180 hard turns!
You can reset the flight in a few short seconds! 8-)

I believe that if you are a mouse and FSX is the cheese, then Vista is a trap!
And that trap will get even bigger when the DX10 Hardware gets finalized and released the masses!

Happy fliyng! :D

you just popped in the SD card? does that mean vista used the external memory card as RAM or another system resource? did you have to configure it to do that?

That's a function of Vista.  I saw that on the website.

What I was not sure was if that is a feature to be activated, or does Vista do that by default.

Nowmormat, What are your PC Specs?

I am running with 2 gigs of RAM and still have occasional hiccups.

TO Al_Fallujah:

HP m7640n:
amd x2 5000+
corsair xms ddr2-667, 2gig dual chanel (but the bios sees it as ddr2-800)
xfx 7300LE (waiting for a killer DX10 card)
WD 320gig sata

the sd card is a lexar platinium 2, 2gig 60x speed.

PS: in sys properties, with vista, if you have a backup UPS, you can choose to have your Hdd optimized for extreme performance!

I will try this option later in the day.

Happy fliyng :)

What does having an uninteruptable powersupply have to do with optimizing your Hard Drive?
I guess I fail to see the connection.

The system will optimized for maximum speed instead of security. So, if you have a power surge, fliker or faillure (like i sometimes have), you will not only loose data, you will have corupted files upon restart :-[

btw: I've just tried it around KSFO with the 172 and the flight seemed a little smoother 8-)

Happy fling :)

An SD card or Secure Digital is a memory card that slides into a PDA, Digital Camera or........... ;)

with those specs you shouldn't hve too bad a stutter.
Have you tried adjusting your settings down a little and closing all unneeded programs?
