Before:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Cpu
1.5 Gb Corsair RAM
ECS K8T890-A Motherboard
Geforce FX5200

got about 20 fps steadily on mainly low graphics...


and now instead of the FX5200 video card, i just bought an 8800GTS


will it finally look nice and play great? or do i need to buy more.

Now...i'm no computer expert and I don't know the pros and cons of every motherboard/video-card/CPU out there but you seem to have a very good system. The 1.5Gb of RAM will help ALOT and so will the 8800GTS. But for the few extra bucks you should've bought the GTX...  ;)

FSX eats hardware for breakfast, so "more gets more" is quite right.

Seeing your system, I'd go for more RAM and a better CPU.

well i maxed out EVERYTHING and got 10 fps in new york. not bad not bad, but ill be turning it down a bit =]

and an extra 150-200 dollars for a card that will only give me around 10 more fps, ill pass

You should try some tweaks, that will improve performance.
