fs9 aircraft for FSX

I did not have FS9, i moved straight from FS2002 to FSX so i dont have any FS9 aircraft that i have tried to install in FSX.  Can anyone recommend some of the best freeware FS9 aircraft, the best of the best, the essential aircraft that everyone should have in their sim that work in FSX that i should download?  a link would be a great help for each one!

Most FS9 aircraft don't work 100% in FSX, due to old gauges, etc, etc...

The only one that comes to mind right now is Warwick Carter's P-51D v2. This one works flawlessly.

You have to get the IRIS Raptor. You can get it at  http://www.irissimulations.com/download.php?list.3 it is third from the top.
The afterburners are abit but the gauges and everything else work.

Try and get the stearman for fsx (search stear04.zip). It's a fun to fly and the sound you get, makes you feel smelling the oil.

Kirk Olsson's F-16 D Series is great and it works in FSX with exception of the cockpit which it didnt even have in FS2004.

You can get a panel and aircraft fix for the viper. If i remember right, it is called viperfx.zip (sorry, but my dvd backups is not home at the moment).

Go over to Classic British Flight Sims and get the HS.748 by Rick Piper, the BAC 1-11-510ED and
Trident 3 by David Maltby. I also have a FS9 B777-300 that works well in FSX.

The only thing you'll need to do to get all the VC cockpit textures to show up is copy those
textures that, in FS9, resided in a common "texture" folder into each of the aircrafts texture
folders.

I would limit my importing of FS9 aircraft into FSX to those with VC's since FSX has disabled
the ability to have side/rear/diagonal BMP's for those views in the 2D cockpit. You see nothing
but open space when looking away from the forward view ( panel ).
One exception to this recommendation would be the FSDZigns L-049A Connie, since it's a delight
to fly ( plus I'm a bit partial to Connies ).

Any FS9 aircraft that uses XML gauges in the panel will most likely import to FSX OK. Those with
FS98/FS2000 gauges will require that those gauges be replaced with a Fs2004/FSX gauge. Something
that is not going to be easy to do in most cases.

 I suggest making a seperate "Aircraft" folder in FSX, apart for the default "Airplanes" folder, and
place any imports there. Also, until you are certain of the compatibility and whether or not you
are going to keep the imported aircraft, keep the gauges ( CAB's, gau, gauge folders ) in the panel
folder for that aircraft. That way, should you wish to remove the import, you won't leave alot of clutter in your
main gauge folder.

That's true. You need to use CTL+E to start them or add a "new"starter gauge or modify the existing code.
I've done both.  AIR though, the Trident starts OK.  

Changing the starter code or just using CTL+E ( ugh! ) is a small price to pay for such superb aircraft, IMO.

Here's the code for the HS.748 Engine 1 starter switch that I added on the panel, located next to
the Prop Sync switch. It uses existing 748 switch BMP's.

Click the starter switch once....when the engine has started, click it one more time
to turn the starter off.

Part of the "starter problem" in FSX is do to Aces "fixing" the "Toggle_Enginex" code. In FS9 it
was NOT a toggle function. You had to continuously repeat that function until the engine started.
In FSX, you need only to call the function once to start, then once again to disengage the starter.

Another FSX problem arises from some things like fuel valves and mixture not being addressed
in some panels and if you have saved a cold & dark cockpit as your default flight, as I have,
then even some of the default FSX aircraft will not start using the panel starter functions.
The Beech Baron and Grummand Goose are two example that I know of. Once you use
CTL+E to start those engines, you can then shut them down and they will then be re-startable
using the panel starter switches. CTL+E appears to set the mixture/fuel valves/etc so that
all the start conditions are satisfied. Of course the SDK makes no mention of these little things.

Your code may be right fighter25. But Heretic and i like to start an aircraft manuel, just like we, i think, like to fly it in our own hands. You know, got the control.

I prefer digging into the 748's & 1-11's panel gauges and fix it from there.

This could have some side effects 'though but may be well worth the effort.

Thanks guys! the classic british aircraft are excellent.  Which if any of the suggestions have a working VC that operates in FSX or do none of the FS9 aircraft fully function in FSX?
