FSX addons require FS2004?

Postby Lt. Air Force » Fri Jan 26, 2007 10:50 am

Hey everbody,
This is my first post here but I am certinly not new to SimV. I've been checking here for a long time, I really like the site. Anyway onto my question. In the downloads section for FSX, there are alot of planes that are just updates for FS2004 aircraft. So, do I need FS2004 to run these aircraft in FSX? Or can I just download the FS2004 craft and the FSX update and have it still work? If I do need Fs2004, i plan on buying it this weekend.

i do not beleve so i did not need 2002 for the same reasons, and i have sucessfully transferd several aircraft from 2004 to x with out updates. the only issue is the pannels but the updates should fix that so you should be good to go. :)
big or small i like them all ...? that dosent sound right
slew mode dose not count as flying

Ok so I don't need FS2004 for an update of an FS2004 craft to FSX standards? Then could you tell me what to do with the FS2004 a/c file? I don't have FS2004 thats why i'm asking.

Correct

Sounds like your unsure of the whole process?  If so, then just paste it into your simobjects/aircraft folder.  None of the gauges will work, but the plane should be fine.

Most of them, but not all.
Look for full fsx aircraft installation.
If you find a update from fs9 to fsx, you need the fs9 aircraft to install into fsx, then the update are given you a new aircraft.cfg and a panel that works.
But be carefull. Many updates are just junk.
