I did a flight from New Zealand to Falklands (with several cheat-landings on the Antarctic ice in between) in FS9. It took me a week to navigate the South Pole, and that was cheating with Google Earth, to peek at coastal outlines along the way. Say what you will about the inaccurate cylindrical format used, it gave a good feel for getting lost with the magnetic variations frigging up the instruments to the point of virtually flying by the seat of your pants. Fun in the simulator, not something I'd want to try in real life, unless I had real long legs on my airplane.

One more thing - for those who care to try some what-if addons, there is a nice Antarctic freeware scenery available. Look for "FS2004 Stamar Ice Base 2005 v2.0". Pretty nifty - haven't tried it in FSX but may well work fine.
