Maule Aileron in VC

Postby beausol » Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:55 pm

Anyone else notice that in the VC or 2-D cockpit for the Maule, when you apply RIGHT stick, the right aileron goes DOWN?
If you look out the left window, the left aileron ALSO goes DOWN with right stick!

It's supposed to be "stick toward the up aileron", so the VC and 2-D models have the right aileron backwards.  If you look from the outside (spot view or tower view) both ailerons are correct, it's just wrong in the VC and 2-D views.

Also, again only in the VC and 2-D views, when an aileron goes down full, it retracts inward toward the wing....kind of like a fowler flap (except a flap retracts when it comes up).  This happens with either aileron.

Not wanting to rule out the possibility that the Maule M-7 260C has some neat feature with a slotted aileron hinge design, I got the M-7 260C manual, and it doesn't mention it.  I also looked at the M-7 260C maintenance manual, and it says that the ailerons are on a normal pivot hinge.

If neither of these issues exist in anyone else's sim, then mine's just dorked up.

Hmmmmm....curious.

Hopefully this will be in a patch fix sometime, because it's just annoying to be doing a right turn and noticing the right aileron drop.

I love flying the Maule..

I had never noticed that, either. It really does push the aileron the worng way.
Working on getting a screen shot.

Something else I noticed. In the VC, pan left and down, and look at the little latch for the Window.
Zoom in on it. On mine, it's a minature image of the textures/paint scheme of the Maule. If I change to another paint scheme, it changes as well.  I will get a screenie of this as well.

Close up the Window Latch. Sorry for the background, I was not looking at the rest of the world, I was zoomed in.

I don't think that this is an accident.
I moved my view point in VC, and then zoomed in.  Looking up slightly so you can view it like a slide.
You can clearly see the wingtip logo's saying MAULE. It looks just like all the other texture files.

If you change paint scheme's the image changes too.

None of this is earth shattering of course... just nifty.

Your reply doesn't make sense.

appears that the above latch, has some texture mapping problems...

maybe whoever made that Maule, assigned a material to that part and forgot to actually MAP the textures on it, so, the whole texture image appears....

those of us who have modelled A/C before, know how this sort of mistake is easily possible (and stupid :P)

and yes, i did notice the aileron fluke! not only the right one is backwards, the little metal rod that was suposed to pull the ailerons up and down, moves WITH the aileron, driving itself in and out of the wing :P doh...
If nature wanted a man to fly - It would have given him more money
