I know it's tough, you can't have it installed on two systems at once, but then neither can someone going against the terms of the EULA... :)

I understood the original idea was to be able to install it on two separate machines (for example: desktop PC & laptop) but only use one at any time. That's how I interpret the underlined conditions on Ravang's image.

Microsofts website interprets that quite differently...(?)

Again, from the Microsoft, two questions down from the previous:

Q6: Can I install the product on more than one computer?

A6: You can install and use one copy of the software product on the licensed device. The licensed device is the device for which you have accepted the license agreement. You can remove the product and then install the product on another computer. However, you cannot share the license between two or more computers. See the End User License Agreement (EULA), for more information.

To purchase additional copies of Flight Simulator X, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/fligh ... aspx#buyit

Thanks for clarifying that. It seems a tad ridiculous when they have to set up a FAQ page explaining their own EULA. ::)

But how many people actually read the EULA fully?

I think it's one of those things to aid conscientious people who have bothered to find out before installing again etc, rather than breaching the EULA blindly... :)

I thought it was probably (the US version of) the big FS book "tips" book they do. Looks like the authors didn't quite clarify with MS exactly what they meant... :-?

Oops.

I wouldn't guarantee it. It's published by Prima Games, part of Random House publishers, so I expect it may well have been their "game guide" writers, under the guidance of MS... :-?

Ok, let me get this straight.

You can install FSX on two computers [max] and can use the code as many times as you want for as long that you reinstall FSX on those exact same computers. But if you want to install FSX on a third machine while the other two still have FSX installed, you need to order a new activation code? But if you uninstall FSX from one of the two machines [maybe both], you can reinstall FSX on a third machine?

If so, how come I can't activate FSX on my third machine even though I have removed FSX from my two previous machines? So, I have to call Microsoft and let them know so that I can convince them that FSX has been removed from both of my other machines?

you cant activate it a third time because the activation systems are not smart enough to detect that you have deactivated the previous installs..

how would MS detect that?..

So in short if you now need a third activation you will have to speak to ms to achieve this. (I've had to do this many times with windows and had no problems from MS about it.)

I believe as stated earlier the second activation is really to allow you to run the program should your hardware change substantially, rather than two simultaneous activations on different systems, however that may and appears to be open to interpretation...

Two things:
1). Simv, your server needs a cleanup.
2). triton. Are wee talking about money here? Who will not make money? My freind Bill will not give you anything for free. Why should he. He has your pc  in the power of his hand.

May I care to ask why?

Not according to the Microsoft FAQ quoted at the top of this page.

You can install on one machine, uninstall then install on one other according to that and the EULA.

Yes you may, Charley.
At times it's so difficult, just to open simv. More difficult to get into forum. A lot of my freinds is telling me the same.
We have to reset our connections, restart pc's, and if we are lucky, we can get in with 2 or 3 servers dont reply, and the 4, wow, i'm in, and then we can start all over.
Think you misunderstood me. This is not threads or topics. Its plain world wide speeking problems.
Cheers to you Charley.
