Then I found this site, WOW!! What a lot of information we have here... I spent most of the last 2 nights tweaking my computer and the game. I followed Nick N's thread about background services and turned off all the stuff that runs in the background, then the defrags etc etc....
Then went through all the game settings, added swivel pan to Virtual cockpit etc etc... This is stuff I had no clue about, but the information here made it an easy task.
I have a 3gig hyperthreading prosessor, 1 gig ram, ATI saphire 9600 card. After all the tweaks I pushed all the FSX settings up to ultra high and actually flew "fairly smoothly". I then started playing with graphics etc and ended up with most settings on high or ultra high. But I did turn off road traffic.
Well it runs FSX like a dream now.
The graphics are amazing, so good that I have to go and buy a bigger monitor to really immerse myself into the game. The Virtual cockpit makes you feel like you are actually in a plane.

I also have never used a glass cockpit before and it looked a bit confusing. But after reading the tutorial and playing..... I love it. Wow.
So thanks for the advise everyone, and to those that still have reservations about FSX, I would say just do it. You do need a decent machine, but my computer is now 4years old and after a few tweaks it runs FSX no problem at all now.
Cant wait to knock off and have a good play tonight.........
