Pesimists!

Postby gilly_is_alive » Thu Jan 04, 2007 8:25 pm

I dont know what all the pesimists are flaming about.  Everyone bar a few seem to be whining about how bad FSX is compared to FS9 yada yada yada.  Well nearly all of those whiners will have a better system than mine.

A laptop, Acer Travelmate 8104
Intel pentium M 760 processor (2.0GHz)
2Gb RAM (recently upgraded)
100GB 5400rpm hard drive (so slow!)
ATI Mobility x700 128MB graphics

Well i love FSX and if i can enjoy it then surely everyone else on their standalone supercomputers can.  I think it looks incredible even with most sliders near the very bottom.

I have set the aircraft high, the water quite high, Turned off autogen compltely, set scenery complexity to sparse, overall textures to full, mesh to low settings.  Most of the settings are very low compared to others and it still looks incredible.  The moving pilot head in the VC, the glare from the glass, the water reflections, the flight dynamics, the missions and new options are amazing.  Performing the monsoon approach mission, just watching the wing flexing and the incredible looking aircraft in the rough weather is great.  The wonderful looking ships including ones you can land on with helicopters are great, the airbus is great, the vast range of missions will keep anyone interested for a long time.  The flight dynamics are so muhc more realistic, especially the ground effect.  The new textures are fantastic but my favourite update is how amzing the virtual cockpits are.  You actually feel like you are in a cockpit rather than looking at a computer screen.

Only improvement advice i can give to microsoft is:  MORE MISSIONS.  The ones included are great but I will be done with them in a few weeks.  Hundreds should be included with the next version including new ones added online.  I suggest a fire service mission where a fire service plane has to extinguish a forest fire.

Anyone thinking of buying FSX witha  mediocre system, dont listen to the pesimists.  GO AND GET IT!

I would whole-heartedly agree with the more missions comment, or some kind of random mission generator or something. :)  [smiley=beer.gif]<-(cake in a glass)

Darn optimists! ;D

This just goes to show the wide spectrum of FSX users.
Some are somwhat demandang and their expectations of FSX were high.

Others are evidently easily pleased. :)

and then there are those who know how to set up their system and hardware properly, know how to tweak correctly and do not over-drive the sliders for the hardware they have installed.

I dont call them optimisits.

I call them experienced.

Not a problem if their own hardware is up to their expectations.. else they're easily annoyed
