Amazon supply mission (spoiler)

Postby RitterKreuz » Fri Dec 29, 2006 1:56 pm

Caution... here be spoilers if you havnt played the mission dont read unless you want it spoiled for you.

Just tried the mission where you take the grumman goose to resupply an archiological site in the Jungle

Awesome - except for one problem - read on  ;)

Landed at the first lake, and picked up the supplies

Landed at the second lake and dropped off the supplies

Archiologist lady walks out to the plane and wants us to fly over an area where they suspect a hidden snake temple might be.

You have the ability to turn it down by saying "no thanks, i think i would rather play it safe and head back to the airport" or you can say "sure, lets go." of course im thinking in my gut - play it safe and get the hell out of dodge, but im saying "wicked! hidden snake temple! im there!"

so we blast off and find the hidden temple on the edge of a lake, the lady wants to land and taxi up to the edge for a closer look, she gets out and steals a cursed statue from the temple just then the whole plase starts to collapse around me. I fire up the engines and firewall it to get out of there.

after that everything went to crap - flight control malfunction - instrument failure - right engine fails, left engine catches fire just 2 miles from the airport so now its a grumman goose glider... i did a perfect smooth landing in the grass just a couple of hundred feet from the edge of the runway (no more speed or altitude to play with to reach the numbers) and it was perfect and the screen says "YOU CRASHED - MISSION FAILED" to which i reply "#*&@#*&$% ! ! ! ! ! ! !

40 minutes at least spent trying to accomplish this challenge.  :'(

despite the failure of the mission - it was fun to play it.  :)

Microsoft has made the flight simulator franchise fun again!   :D

specifically challenging because you cant pitch for blue line airpseed on the airpseed indicator for single engine flying because - the airpseed indicator quits working - its all seat of the pants with multiple systems falling off line.

I definitely should fly this mission. I love how there is a little twist to the missions to make it interesting. I wonder what happens if you say no to the lady, though?

She gets really pissed and turns into the snake goddess and eats your friend and destroys your airplane for not fulfilling some kind of prophecy of the ancient snake worshippers

lol just tried the mission. after leaving the temple i climbed as fast as i could to try to save up altitude.... It worked pretty well, but i overshot the landing and drifted in to the trees at the end of the runway. lol 40 mins wasted, i would try it again but its too long.

I actually crashed on my first try of the mission.  Once the 'mishaps' start happening, yes!  Climb and gain some altitude.  Then once the guages fail, its pretty much flying by sight and judging distance and speed all on your own.  I made it through on my second try, though I'm sure the brake material on the brakes were all gone or close to starting a brake fire. LOL
