Hi to all and thans for all the replay, thay have been very usefull and i will try all of them.
Maybe i was wrong when i said" incredible performance" i was meaning not the graphic but the level of FPS and smoothness.

Thanks Nick for your tips, i will apply them and see how my sim will performe, it is a perfect base from where to start.

When i have checked all this setting i will post what will be the performance( in smoothness) and also in graphic.
Thanks so much!!

Hi again Nick.
Have tried some of your settings. Your mip and mesh are slowing down my old rip (his 9800 iceq) with 5-7fps. I run 20-30fps at airport with 30% traffic and 50% others (not airport vehicles) at medium settings, also autogen.
Would you please try this old trick.
Run the sim. Set fps at minimum. Close sim. Make sure this is under graphics in cfg: LOD_TARGET_FPS=10
Restart the sim and set fps to unlimited. Close and start again.
What do your pc mean about that?

It would force my distance scenery and local scenery to become blurred and items to POP onto the screen instead of fade in and out in the distance. It would also cause my flight to be choppy and not smooth. That trick has been known to work in FS9 on slower video cards. One of the FS9 developers had something to say about that and I can

Hi Stefano

What it comes down to is what works for you in visual and smooth flight... if you are willing to sacrifice some things to get smooth flight and do not mind the visuals and how they perform, don

Made a cfg with your settings. My fps went down to 9, and i have a long texture load when making a new wiev. Have no problems in distance with my setup.
Never the less, i just love this! (making experiments)

Hi guys!
First of all, many many greetings to all to have the most wonderful XMas and New years days to you and your families! :)

I think to have reached almost the maximum i can run FSX on my pc
P4 3 Ghz
!024 Gig Ram
ATI X 1600 XT
I have followed the tips from Nick and now, with these setting i reach from 18/ 20 FPS with a nice smoothness in the sim.
Remember that FPS is not so important to have the/any game smooth as much as possible, the xpert say that is a right balance in the pc that is giving better performance.
One can have a very smooth game with 15 FPS than one that has 50 fps and stuttering all the time...
Of course this is the theory, but is true, unfortunatly, specially with medium end system we have to compromise performance with fine graphic, and i have choosen this.
I am always testing the game in the hardest way to see what are " the limits" of my system, means find a nice performance with the system really working a lot, than from here, try and find also a good compromisewith the graphic setting.
I think to be on the right step, if i think that a week ago i was telling myself, well you have throw 55 euro in the trash can, now i can tell, well this is a onderful game.
In the beginning of my post, i was totally wrong about my discover, and, i have to thank him, nick open my eyes and make me realize that was logic the improvement of the fps, but with a loss in the graphic seight.

Now i am running with:
AA= 4X
AF= 16X
Adaptive antialiasing= performance
SO exactly the opposite way i was trying in the begining.

I will post my cfg file to make see the changes i have made.

I have found, on my system, that lowering FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=.001//OR 0.001

to this size, has given me the kick to have smooth fligth and good FPS, with a not big loose in the graphic site.
Well, as i have said before, we have to compromise and i have done...
It is still time to experiment, but with these seting i am happy enough, and i will wait for the patch, that seems will come out in the new year, and bevouse of this, i will not hack texture and so on, or better, the only thing i have done has been to chenge the resolution of the clouds and installed a patch from MS i think that has performed some terrain texture, nothing else, only cfg tweeks and graphic settings.

About the long loading time, it ia a known issue, is because, seems that in the game there is a wrong code or something like this that make the game, at the startup, searching for all the textures, that are not in the right folder or are failed, this is what i have read about, the expert can confirm this or not, but if someone has Filemon and setting the filter to FSX.exe, will see if is really true what these people is telling.

Sorry for this long post, but i want to give info to all and see if i can help.
Maybe i have been lucky with my setting, but right now i have a game running very smooth and with almost no stuttering ( other thing to check)
I  post now my CFG,  i prefer not my setting in the game, they are too much depending from pc to pc and hardware, but if someone want to know them,i will very happy to show them..

Thanks so much for the attention

Stefano. As i told you. Just doing well.
Rafi. Dont get your eyes lockup on the fps. Get the balance in the settings. No matter if it shows 8 or 60fps. Stefano  is close on. Try it.

HI!
Actually i am not home so i can not look at my pc.

@Rafi: the cfg file i am referring is the FSX.cfg, that you find in the folder "your document"
I am trying to experiment with different planes and locations, but i mostly fly Cessna and not in heavy dense environment, but i will try other situatioms as soon am back home.
How you can get so high FPS. maybe the amount of ram?

Anyway i agree with kilotango, all of us has to learn and know that high FPS doesn

Stefano.
Try and set your TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT= to 400. I get a better picture close up and it dont take speed out.
