Center Wheel in Realistic Position from VC?

Postby ThePilot_Ace » Wed Dec 20, 2006 6:00 am

Hi guys, is it possible to have the center (front wheel) of the plane in the realsitic position it would be when looking through the cockpit? So the middle won't be at the center of your screen, it would be where it would be in real life.

Hope you get what I mean  :P

Sorry, I don't quite understand...
When I'm in a plane like the learjet or the CRJ, with the exterior view I place the noze wheel on a line, and then in the VC the pilot seat is not on the line. So even in VC the nozewheel is at correct position....
Could give more details ?

I think you could be daube.  In the VC view you are placing your viewpoint on the centre line but in your picture the nose wheel could actually be off to the right

Let's analyze the picture you posted.
- Is this the default position automatically assigned when you start a new flight directly from the active runway?
- If you toggle the external view, is the nose wheel centered on the runway centerline?
- What plane is that? Have you tried other planes as well?
In all cases, F1View can move your eyepoint inside the VC in case you fancy that (does F1View work in FSX anyway? Not sure).

1) Yes this is the exact position, all I did was focus it out a bit (use the [-] key) so you can see what I mean.
2) When I toggle the external view the nose wheel is on the runway centerline.
3) Default 737-800 from FSX.

F1View=? F1=Idle throttle for me.

Now,

I do not know what is so bloody hard to understand about what I'm trying to say lol...........!!!!!!!!! THIS ISN'T A BUG. All I'm asking is is it possible to get the nose wheel lined up with the middle of the VC (window divider) not the middle of your view, like in my S/S.

Ok, now I understand what you meant, don't worry.

Have a closer look to your shot: the line is NOT at the center of the picture.
Your position, as a pilot, is right in front of the artificial horizon. If you look closely to the line, you can see that it is not in line with your head, but more on the right. The rest is all about perspective and height of the cockpit.

My advise to try to convince you: look at your keys assignements (Controls in the options) for the view controls. Find the control for moving the eye point to the right, and move until you are facing the center bar of the cockpit (what you wrote as "center wheel in real life"), and you will see that everything will be finally lined up correctly.

You get the impression that, when being at the pilot seat, you are lined up with the center line, but you're not. You're very close to it, on the left, and at some feet high. That why it's hard to see, but your position in the VC is correct :)

When I was a kid, sitting in the right seat on a highway, I thought "wow, Dad's driving in the middle of the road" while in facts we were safely within the right lane. Perspective tricks.
PS: obviously I understood your question and I was only trying to assess what you thought was wrong in that picture.

This photo  kind of shows the perspective.

The camera position is more to the right than the pilot's head (prob taken over the pilot's right shoulder), so the perspective isn't as exagerated.

having piloted some planes, that is perfectly right.
in the pic, you are not on the centre line, you are just to the left of it, and that is how it looks in real life.
you are quite high up, so it may look like you are very close to the centre line, but trust me, you are not dead on it.
so just enjoy a very real flight sim
