Let me get this right.  You can't fly anywhere else because MS really droped the ball in 1 city?  I know it is a very major city, but one city none the less.  You payed for the entire world, to go check out places that you gave never been, fly around the world, just stop complaing how MS made a mistake.  IT'S MICROSOFT WTF DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD DO?  MAKE A PERFECT GAME?

It says here '38 high-detail cities'. It would be interesting to know which cities they're referring to.

London is, and has for some time been one of the default high details citys - go to docklands and see the (very nicely made) buildings, which look like they've been put in from the real world.

However, I'm now firmly with Roger on this one, having just taken a look down the Thames myself, it frankly is appaling. There are several huge terrain anomolies (such as small canyons etc) next to high profile landmarks (which have been handmade for the sim, so you'd think would have been checked. One of the landmarks (the Thames Barrier) that featured in FS8 and 9 has "disappeared" I suspect it's there, but its under a hill which has appeared in the river!

It is very annoying that in one programme M(qualcosa)s can get London okish and yet in the "upgrade" so-called, it's a mess!!

It is of course the same old story with M(qualcosa)s !!!!!!!
"Let's tell the world how wonderful our new upgrade will be" only to release with it with more errors than before!!! It is in fact a "downgrade" I am dreading the release of Vista. XP had / has tens of thousands of errors. They are just about to release a new version of IE that no doubt will have even more holes than previous versions. I personally won't touch IE or OE. (the two MOST unsafe programmes produced by ANYONE) The new IE7 is a very belated attempt to catch up with the opposition. (and they had to do a last minute patch they almost forgot in order to comply with the EU!!!)

There have been many pics posted on the forum from FSX and NONE of them match the quality of a good FS9 set up.
All I've seen so far is photo unrealistic scenery. Sea that looks like water from a swimming pool.
I won't be wasting my money on  downgrade!!!!

Apart from the fact that i do agree,i have one question.
How did FS9 looked like when it was released 1st?
Perfect? Of course not!Until today there are hundreds of tweaks and patches existing.Okay, i do know that i

I can imagine how Martin Schweiger would be feeling if everyone would be heavily criticizing Orbiter once the space sim hits its 25 year mark. ::)

In that case, I might actually reconsider the idea of creating my own sim once I get a degree in computer programming as I don't like the idea of getting bashed at by people like Rollerball. But wait, what about my car projects? I remember running into a few people who didn't like the idea of cars in a flight sim. If that heats up 25 years from now, I'll be quiting. :-X

Rollerball, what's up with you man? You were the person who discovered many things in FSX that FS9 is never going to achieve. For starters, you discovered that everyone can finally land on a moving carrier. You found a tweek that can all everyone to create an entire fleet of carriers sailing close to St. Marteen. You were also the one who discovered how well FS9-based scenery addons worked in FSX [I think]. Now you're getting put off just because you don't like how the UK looks in terms of default when addons will always make it better?

If you don't like the FS series, why not enjoy X-Plane?

How does that compare? I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work that would have to be put in by one person, to bring their own sim up to the standard of the Flight Simulator series. But we're talking about a huge company here, with years of experience. They should have got it right by now. ::)

Does anyone actualy browse through the learning center? All the cities are listed there.....

Your right Kathua, but people are to easy with there critics towards things, they should give it a try.

Well, you could have tryed the demo of the software, if you didnt like it then then you shouldnt have baught it, really Rollerball, dont you think they will fix all the errors in the next patch? Did the thaught of reporting this to MS crossed your mind?

And rollerball, you should reinstall FSX, because the only error i encountered was the bridge, all the others couldnt be found, and iflew along the themes.

For the rest FSX seems to be looking great, London looks pretty much as i rember visiting it.

So this is a very special area for me. But due to a cock-up by MS (that they kept very much to themselves by the way before the prog went on sale here in the UK) I can't fly there. Even though I have done in FS2004 and FS2002.

So now there is a bubble preventing you from flying there because of the bad scenery?  I see where you are coming from, but why not just wait for an "upgrade"  or just plain better scenery for the 3rd party.  Its a big world, there are a lot of places to fly while you wait.

Yeah.... .... right........ just like they issued a lot of patches over the years that fixed the various propblems with fs2004?  And other offerings?  History is worth viewing a bit here 'cause it says a lot about what might be expected from them now.  Personally.... I think that there will be a patch....... it will take at least a year to come out.... and it will address only a few things (like some bridges) ....... and mostly not the really important issues.

And rollerball, you should reinstall FSX, because the only error i encountered was the bridge, all the others couldnt be found, and iflew along the themes.

London pictures please?  Along with all sim settings.

best,

Has it crossed your mind that he might have (and did) try the demo? How would trying the demo tell him that the rest of the world was so screwed up when all it showed was 10 square miles of Caribbean?

The readme usually has known bugs and errors in it. What does the FSX one say?
