Is it worth the frustration?

Postby Bubblehead » Sun Oct 22, 2006 6:02 pm

I've been avidly following up the various comments in this forum regarding the FSX. I've been messing around with the game for over a week now, doing various suggested tweaks to make it perform half way decent but so far no joy. Perhaps it's my rig (2.2GHz, 1.5G RAM, Nvidia GeForce 6800XT, etc) but again the FSX is going the way the CFS3 did. CFS3 never did get to its full potential. I think I'll be keeping my FS9 for a very long time. To make it work as many suggested I'm not ready to spend a few hundred Cs for a new rig. It'll be a long while if ever for the FSX to come close to FS9.

If I was you uninstall FSX and reinstall CFS3. It's much better. ;D

I'll take you up on that. Found very little add-ons for CFS3 however. Where can I get all the updates for CFS3?

Get the 3.1 patch here:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs3/

Then scenery manager here:
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.php?l ... ileType=cf s3-scenery&page=downloads&ammm=15&pap=2#download

You can (err...must)  also get the 1% flight models on http://www.avhistory.org/

OFF and its patches, as well as installation steps (requires fresh CFS3 + 3.1, if I remember well) on this site:
http://off.oldbrowndog.net/

Enjoy. :)

fsX is exellent. Some SOME people don't set it up properly or think it's to fake.

Some people even complain because there's no 2d panels even though there is  ::)

The real difficulty,to me,is the fact that it seems like there are no major settings existing that push up the performance for everybody.Until today i found so much hints and tweaks,i

Texture detail and size is a pretty good performance improver, though the autogen is also quite heavy.

And dont go in with the thaught that you can run it on full detail as you could with FS9.

Seriously, go to Sim-outhouse and read what they have on graphics tweaks. CFS3 has the potential to be the best looking sim out there if set up right.

There are two patches 3.1 and 3.1a avaliable from the CFS3 website.

CFS3 addons here at SimV are fairly limited, but go to Sim-outhouse and Avhistory and there are loads.

And, oneday we'll get MAW. And that'll kick arse. ;D
