Hardware to run FSX.

If you are running FSX on your PC and you are happy with the performance, please submit your hardware configuration here.

This is to help all others to understand what they need to do to enjoy FSX, specially those will buy a PC soon, like me.

Flying the Baron take off and landing and cruise 5000' between KDMW and KBWI and around Baltimore City  with real weather 15 min

I get between 12 and 20 FPS with all this expensive crap, Below............Not to bad ,  it's smooth but I expected more from this set up.

The only  cfg tweaks I've used so far are these,
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400
WideViewAspect=True
[BufferPools]
PoolSize=5000000

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=20

1680x1050x32
No lens flare
No light bloom
High resolution 3-d cockpit
Water effects high
Scenery complexity,   very dense
Autogen density,    very dense
groun scenery cast shadows ,  check
Special effects,   high
Weather,  60 mi draw
Detailed Cloud cover density,   high
Weather  change,   medium
Airline and general traffic,   80%
Airport vehicle,  medium
Road,ships, leisure boats,   50%

The dispaly settings are a work in progress.. and I think I'll actually save a couple for specific scenarios...

I'm running:
Athlon64 3700+  @2.6ghz
eVga 7800GT256  @ 500/1200
1GB Corsair3200 @ 2.5-3-3-8 1T

After experimenting with ALL the tweeks..  I've found FSX can be run enjoyably...

Of course, I'll never be happy until I can land the default 747 at O'hare with maxed out EVERYTHING..and get 30fps  But I don't think there's a computer out there that can do that (yet).

Try all the tweeks you're comfy experimenting with.. and I've found that autogen and AI (planes , cars airport vehicles, etc.) have the biggest effect on FPS...

The two display setting where I won't compromise are; Scenery Density and Global Texture quality... Everything else is a matter of what you can, or cannot live with..

Except that FSX won't even install on a '10.2 GB Hard drive'   ;)

I sure Fozzer meant a 10TB drive tho  ;D ;D ;D

??? ??? ???

I was going to wait until the end of the year but FRYS Electronic have the standard edition FSX on sale for $35.00, which is fifteen dollars less than what I've seen advertised on the web. So bugs or no bugs I'll take advantage of this. However, can any tell me if my rig is capable of handling the FSX?  Specs as follows:

ASUStek A7N8X-E Rev 2.xx, 400 MHz FSB
AMD Athlon XP, 3200+, 2.2 GHz.
1.5 Gig PC3200 memory
197 Gig Usable Hard Drive Capacity
NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT
Creative SB Audigy
WinXP Home Edition SP2

E6400 @ 3.2GHz
Sapphire X1900XT 512MB
2GB Corsair XMS
ASUS P5B Deluxe

I've been playing around with some tweaks, but I can't for the life of me find where "BufferPools" are in the cfg file.
