My FSX

Postby M.R.Maiornikov » Sat Oct 14, 2006 9:01 pm

Well after 3 days entirely spent on adjusting my copy of FSX (just didn't wanted to give up) i finally reached a point where it became playable.I experience occasional lag (maynly in cyties and town) but overall it's stable (the graphics and autogen is not that great thaugh)

Here's a shot i made while flying one of the mission:

Now no offence, especially to you M.R.Maiornikov, as they are great shots. But other than the water in shot 1, can anyone honestly say FSX looks better then FS9 with addons? Atleast FS9 has flyable frames aswell....

Sorry but its just my opinion! Great shots though  8)

........yes but what about when the "addons" arrive for FSX?...and they will,sure as night follows day......shouldn't we be waiting for that day before comparing.........or at least comparing FS9 WITHOUT addons  with the new FSX? Surely that would be a fairer comparison!..........commoner ;)

Thanks for comments everyone

Mic for adjusting my fsx i went to this site http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41  and applied every tweek posted there.Second i went to the fsx.cfg file and made some changes there as well:

1-under [TERRAIN] section i inserted these two lines
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2500
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1000

2- i changed the  SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1 to  SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=0

3-i set the setting
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=20  to
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400

Also i applied this setting to my shortcut that i found in avsim forum
http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az= ... 1168&page=

For the actual settings i will post them later as i can't get in FSX right now (Brother's sleeping and the comp is in his room :)  )

P.S. Also you might want to try to set your special effects animation to medium as judgiung from this thread it has a significant impact on your overall performance.

I totally agree with you on this one. While fsx becomes stable on medium settings i can run FS9 on highest possible ones and it just looks pretier. But it's my opinion so some of you might not agree.

That's because TODAY's computers are now able to run FS9 and because FS9 has reached its 3-year mark [the point where it becomes more enjoyable due to the progress of hardware]. FS9 would never have ran smoothly at all with hardware that existed 3 years ago. The same will hold true with FSX once it hits it 3-year mark.

YES!!! Of course, what you say is very true that FS9 with addons is way better than FSX DEFAULT!!! But wait a while and you'll see that FSX with ADDONS will far surpass FS9 with PAYWARE ADDONS!!!

I remember seeing a few payware addons for previous versions of FS [before FS9] that now look like scrap when compared to today's addons.

DENSE autogen REALLY? whats your system like and whats the rest of your settings like?

how much of a performance boost did you get from resizing ground textures, and how much did visual quality change?
I havnt done it yet but it might be worthwhile ;)

not really answering much of the question...is there much visual detail loss with resized ground textures? what was your performance like before you resized the ground textures?

if you mean resizing the ground texture from 1024x1024 to 512x512 then i havent do that because last time i did my fsx went crazy with the lag.
