AAGH..the Newegg.com puzzle

I ordered Flight Simulator X Deluxe from Newegg.com on the 10th of October.(Just FYI, I used Fedex Express Saver..) When I checked my order status,thinking it must've shipped already....No.It was on backorder. Anyone care to explain how backorders work?

Sometimes they say it's on back-order if you preorder it, because they don't have any copies to ship yet, so it'll probably be shipped on the 17th.

Thanks for the explaination. I was a little nervous about the "backorder" status,as I didn't want to have to pay $76.79 twice.(by mistakenly ordering when I thought my order didn't go through,not realizing it was backordered.. I didn't order twice,although that was my initial fear.)  

(Silly question..if my copy of FS X Deluxe ships on the 17th-a Tuesday-and I'm using Fedex Express Saver shipping,which has a delivery time of 3 business days-When will it arrive?)

Just checked Newegg.com's order status page....and my copy of FS X Deluxe shipped out today.  ;D.. I should have it by Friday,if everything works out.
