Decision Made

Postby stuart1044 » Wed Oct 11, 2006 4:31 pm

Well having read all the various threads on FSX i have come to a decision.....

I have cancelled my order for FSX, i think im going to wait for Vista and Direct X 10, then see what the performance will be...

On the demo i was getting 8-11fps on high settings and i don't see the point of wasting

Wise choice. ;) Same decision I made. No point in buying a product that I won't be able to enjoy thoroughly.

Staurt, I promise you that you will never regret that decision. It's a very wise move you made. ;) ;D

As for me, I'll buy it anyways as I need the SDKs for my Hummer project [long story].

That is the way to think.throught this forums we can see there are many people that invested money in machines and now after trying the demo or after reading the posts are scared. The machine i have is a month old but i made it for fs9 im not even worried about FSX, curious yes but to be honest with you guys, i saw the graphics the scenerys, and believe me i've seen many works of art from our genious in simviation making scenerys and textures ,and planes looking good or even better than the ones we see in FSX.Specially when it is a program that costs over $1000.Program+ the upgradeswe made.
CHEERs many thanks

I believe it may have been a good decision, but its getting old hearng about "im not getting it"  ::)  thats nice, but desent change my view.  ;D ;)  also you need to stop compareing FS9 ADD-ONS to FSX DEFAULT  MS arnt great aircraft developers, the amazingness of the game isnt the defalt, but reather what the freeware skilled deveopers can now do. Not buying FS based on the default scenenry and textures is not a good way to go beacuse im willing to bet money that as soon as something better comes out you wont have default anymore and will be 100x better then FS9.  just my 2 cents.  ;D

.....mmm...and just one thing to remember.........No one, that means NOBODY will ever run any Version of FS to it's absolute full potential.........it will always be a compromise.........and all of us will be constantly looking for that tweak here, tweak there to get the extra indefinable "something" to give us a bit more satisfaction, which will only last until the next tweak comes along............

That's all part of the fun...isn't it? Some like to fly...some just like to look at the scenery and some like a bit of both. Don't be put off a great product just cos you can't get "Perfection"   Trust me .....it won't happen........

Just my Honest Opinion guys...........commoner.  ;)

If I could have a Dollar for every hour I wasted "tweeking" fs2004 to try to get it running as I thought it should run........ I could have bought a CRAY to run it on.

On a similar thought,  did CFS3 ever came up to it's full potential?

anyways after a full day trying to tweak my FSX i came to conclusion that i will stick with fs2004 for a while. There is just noway i can run fsx out of the box smoothly. So i think i'll just uninstall it and go back to the good ol' perfectly tweaked fs2004 until someone finds some tweaks for fsx that will improve the performance.

M$ made CFS3 its verry own engine, developers never got the hang of it and no other version was compatible with it CFS3 was a M$ Flop.  I cant even run it for 30 min without it randomly crashing to desktop.

You have to admit though, the aircraft physics were vastly improved in CFS3 especially for jets. Unfortunately, its benefit was vastly overshadowed by its downsides.

I think you have made the correct decision.

I didn't - went ahead and pre-ordered FSX which arrived yesterday. First install went smoothly until I tried restarting the game and nothing happened. So uninstalled and reinstalled the game again and started getting "FSX cannot load" type errors.

The short amount of time I WAS able to access the program I found the FPS crawling along compared to FS2004 - even with autogen off.

So it looks like for me at least, this is the end of the line with my MSFS. Going to keep FS2004 on the PC and continue using that until such time as MS patches the game and/or better PC hardware becomes available.

Returning FSX to whence it came....
