I have asked this question several times. No one can give me an answer. I It is just MS paranoia if you ask me  ::)

Matt

PS I have SP2 and have never had a problem.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

...LOL........Paranoia it WAS for me..........but as I have said elsewhere support for SP1 is to end from next week so I'm afraid that means no more security updates etc for that..........I once said NEVER but there is a saying "NEVER say NEVER" and it has come round to me ;D

Must say I studied the hints and tips for a couple of hours and also got advice from guys on SimV and I had no problems whatsoever apart from merely disabling the new firewall in favour of the one I am using now............go for it lads ......have no fear...FSX is here......commoner ;)

I had SP2 since it came out, Read the hype of paranoia, got rid of, Got some weird SP1 Virus that was going around, Formatted, put it back on, never had a problem and have had it on all my PCs, and families PCs since! Cheers, Gunny

Well, when I installed SP2 over a year ago, my computer bogged down like crazy...I am still debating with myself to install it or not :-X

Obviously your computer doesn't seem to like SP2. Did you try doing a complete clean out of your system and directly installed SP2 on a fresh computer?

Well, it's an HP computer...I did not receive any Windows CD to do a complete reformat...I would've done one along time ago if I did...This was when I had 512MB RAM...now that I have a GB..should I try again...especially since SP1 support ends on Tuesday :-[

I got SP2 when it was released. A little icon said update avaliable in my taskbar and I pressed it and before I knew it I had SP2. I wasn't happy at the time what with not having the choice, but as I was two lazy to remove it I just went through windows and disabled it's more pushy features and havn't looked back since.
