That is very cool... it's weird sometimes flying in FS9's not-so-accurate night skies.
It would be even better if one could actually navigate with the stars generated in the sim; I've found that doesn't work too well in FS9.
BTW, Alrot, you should know that it wasn't just sailors who used to use celestial navigation: it was a must for pilots also, until fairly recently.

If I were to obtain my Pilots IFR Certificate for night-time navigation, do you think it would be possible for me to take ALROT's piston prop Beech Baron 58 up to an altitude of 82,640 Feet ASL to see the Milky Way.......?

Ahem!!!!!! You can see the Milky Way from the ground!!!!!!! Maybe in your neck of the woods there's too much light pollution. But there are many places away from towns and cities where it is clearly visible!!!
