Here is a another preview article that gives you both photo and FSX comparison shots of St Maarten. It also has a video for you to see. It's 3 pages long.

It's a good read.

Nice find, those are some pretty good comparisons.  I still wish the terrain would be a little more similar to real ground, all the little bumps and hills instead of just big ones, they wouldn't even have to be exactly the same as their real-world counterparts, just something to make the ground look less "eroded".  That, and the clouds could use a major improvement, but still I'm very excited and extremely impressed with FSX.

Also, doesn't anyone know how to get rid of that stupid menu bar at the top of the screen!?  Just press and hold "alt" for 2 or 3 seconds and it goes away and makes everything much better. ;)

Just imagine though, because those graphics aren't even using DX10 yet! ;D

It helps improve the communication between the hardware and software. The DX10 hardware is also capable of supporting features that all other DX9 hardware "doesn't" support at the moment.

Check this link from Sam's thread a little farther down, it gives a comparison between DX9 and DX10...;)

Ok, i havnt been a computer guru for quite a while, but im almost positive that directx 10 will not turn everything photoreal.  They make the sim, they designed the graphics, and it won't get much more than that.  Slightly better lighting and performance maybe.  The textures in the game will all be the same.

Let us not forget that those pictures you see on that website are concepts, not screenshots.

Now those are my 2 cents, you can prove me wrong if it does happen to turn photoreal.   ;)
Cheers,
RB

I've been aware about the concept shots for quite some time already. So no worries. ;)

I think the people who only looked at the pics are the ones who say that DX10 looks great, whereas those who read to realised that those were concept. ;)

But DX10 doesn't just improve graphics, and allows the game programmers more freedom in the amount of unique 3d objects, and the fact that there are not 3 processes (which do geometry, shading, etc.)  anymore, just one single process which does everything. ;D

So its not just the looks, its also performance that should be increased in the release (hey, that rhymed :D). ;)

FS Water Configurator+ has new modifications in the works, plus DirectX 10, Service Pack

DX10 is said to be 6-8 times as fast as 9 when doing a camparable task. It also frees up CPU recources, so with DX10, you get FAR better graphics, better gameplay, higher fps ;)

You mean it compares actual DX9 screens to ones that somebody made using their imagination...

Yeah, whatever, that's what I meant, nobody has any actual screens of DX10, but artist renditions are as close as we can get right now, and people were wondering what it would look like, so I figured I would try to help out. ::)
