Well time for analysis

Settings on high - rubbish. 2FPS. ::) With no clouds. :o
Settings on low, 20FPS - just maintained. But no clouds. The terrain looks like FS2002. I'm sorry, but unless there is a major difference in the real version I won't be getting FSX for a while.
I think I'll take FS9 with me to uni (if I get there) and maybe late next year I'll splash out on a nice PC with a direct x 10 card.

Let's not jump to conclusions, etc.

Remember the release of FS-9?
It was a while before we learned how to tweak the cfg etc, to make it look its best.

Also, it only a crude, buggy demno where nothing is optimized and the majority of

I think you are right, but nevertheless I will need to get a total new rig if I am to make use of any great graphic differences over FS9.

Runs fine on mine, better than some times in fs9 with some addon scenery.

Scroll down and look at my screenshots, on top right is framerate.

The settings were maxed out, except Bloom, water, AI and clouds. All on my midrange system ;)

You have to remember that demos are allways bugy.
Once i tried a demo for Age of Emires 3 and there were some major glitches with the graphics, and that was months after the game was released.

I'm running an AMD Athalon64 3400+ 2.4ghz with 2 gigs of PC3200 Ram 160 GB hard drive, and an ATI  Radeon X1900 (512 MB) and i'm getting sucky frame rates with the settings maxed out.  It's better just above midrange, and the water looks great... but only a lake would be so calm... and look so good.  An Ocean wouldnt look like that.  I've been flying an OH-6A Cayuse (Vietnam War Hughes 500) and I have to say, I love the rotor wash effects over water or land it doesnt matter...  The trees are awesome...  Treetops are what my little LOH (pronounced Loach) does best!!!

Granted, I'll probably build my own system to run FSX when it comes out... honestly, there isnt a really good machine out there right now unless you want to spring four grand on an alienware...  I can build a kick ass machine for a  lot less...  I'm thinking  a Dual core processor (AMD's new AM2 board with the new FX-62 chip) , dual vid cards (SLI not Crossfire... those nvidia 7950 GTs look awfully nice!!!), Dual HDs (Raid 0 Striped)... with about 4 GB of DDR2 RAM should be a good set up...

IMHO FX-62 is a total waste of money. You can get the Conroe E6600 for less than half of the FX-62 price, and it outperforms the FX. Also, the E6600 will overclock better.

If you are building a top of the line system I see no reason why you should buy anything other than Conroe.
