If it doesn't work for you try Esc to end the flight & return to the selection menu.

Here is a question.....when you hit Alt to bring up the menu bar up top is there a way to close it again instead of it just sitting there after it's first use?  I can't seem to get it to go away again....

Try holding down the Alt key until the menu bar disappears.
