Someone please remind me...what was/is the tagline for the FS franchise again?
Something with "as *hmm* as it gets?"

Seems weird they are marketing the game/sim when they never intended to make it realistic as they could  :)

I know, but you can clearly see/feel it was never their top priority, don't you agree?

Yes I would agree.

However, the standard of MS dynamics has more to do with other factors such as what market they want to aim it at, and previously to help sales of their sidewinder stick etc, etc.

Fact is so far their dynamics have never been realistic.

Anyone in dissagreement should ask themselves: if their physics were transferred to the real world, would the aircraft be granted C of A ? I think not.

You have to remember their sim products thus far have been a compromise between a game and a sim in the true sense. This has caused monumental arguments between purists and gamers.

However even for purists MS sims are accessible, can anyone get into IL2 or x-plane and write good dynamics ? is there even an editior for these ?

At least with MS you can usually get in there and fix problems. Even CFS3 is starting to yield now, compared to what was said about it just a year ago.

I have to agree though, Microsoft's use of wording like 'simulator' and 'as real as it gets' does leave a lot to be desired.

The sim community has no base standard with which to judge these products. In my view the sooner this happens the better.

To be fair, we can only speculate as to what FSX will be like. You never know it might be a good sim, or it could be just be bloatware. We will just have to wait and see.

I have a suggestion:  SHUT UP UNTIL YOU SEE FOR YOURSELF!

Unless you went to E3 and played FSX or you somehow have a copy of it, SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT YOU'VE NEVER EVEN PLAYED!

Jesus christ, who are you to tell others what to do?
Dont post anything unless you got something constructive to add Jake...please?

Im only saying that everyone seems to be just complaining about things that we wont know until we see the game.  The discussions are nice, but to say that the flight dynamics are unrealistic when you havent actually tried out the flight dynamics is pointless.  Im not trying to tell others what to do, i just find this whole 'the flight dynamics are unrealistic' debate to be kinda pointless when no one on these forums (to my knowledge) has actually experiencef firsthand what FSX flight dynamics are like

EDIT: And sorry that I sounded mean, just trying to knock some sense into everyone.  I understand all the debates over visuals, requirements, performance, but things like flight dynamics wont be known until the game is played

"real as it gets"? Try flying a helicopter backwards and see what happens. I don't think that becoming a satellite in a helio is as real as it gets. ;)

I would be very upset by them changing the flight dynamics.  I think though that they want to open the game up to a larger audience, i.e. being able to fly with xbox 360 controller and more interactive missions.  I really don't think they should be concerned about terrorists learning to fly, they have already succeeded once and security is so beefed up, that I believe terrorists would try a different means to attack rather that a hijacking again.  Anyways, leave the game the way it is for the people who like it that way, and have an option to make it more "arcadeish" for other people.

Im not, they seem to have improved the heli flight dynamics at least.  But again, I dont know that, it could just be that the person flying it in the video is extremely talented

Or they could have just used the "easy" setting by adjusting it in the "aircraft realism" menu. ::)
