Nobody will know for sure WHO can handle it.

Remember microsoft is going to have all top of the line stuff...and they expect you to go out and get top of the line stuff.

My oppinion is anybody that doesn't have vista isn't ready.

Negative.

I believe Microsoft stated; "P4 3 GHz+ and you're good to go".

A 2.6 GHz Celeron is about as good as 1.3 GHz Pentium 4.

So no, it wouldn't be a pretty sight, and framerates would be unbelievably low.

OK....... let's think a bit about the experience with fs2004 and the "minimum specifications" that Microsoft gave for THAT situation after fs2002.

That "run on a wide range of machines" is a euphimism for the idea that means that if you want to turn OFF a lot of the stuff that you PAID FOR in the new version ...... it will still "run" on a less powerful system.  It is all about defining that word "run".  ;)

But if you are turning things OFF just to be able to run it..... why not simply stay with a fully "tweaked" and "fully loaded"  FS2004 until you can afford the hefty hardware?

Personally I think it is WAY too soon to be buying a computer for FSX.  Wait until it has been out a while and see what the people who are the first purchasers have to say about performance.  THEN use that information to gauge your own purchases.

best,

I would say that you can run FS9 with all parameters maxed out on a rig with the latest technologies 2 years after its release, then...
wait some time before buying a comp only for FSX unless you can't run it on your comp...

3.2 GHz isn't too bad, anything over 3 should be "OK"..

Anyway, what motherboard do you have?

Since you have already 3.2 GHz P4- I'm guessing you've got a motherboard with the 775 socket. The 775 socket is what all the new processors use, except for dual of course. You just need to know the limit for your motherboard, what is the maximum it can take - and then buy the maximum! ;D
