BLaze -

Hey ya might wanna make sure your power Supply in your puter didn't take a Dive on you and causing you some problems,,  check it,, voltage wise,,, also your Video Graphics card and Hard Drive,,,,

sounds like a system failure of some kind,, somewhere,,, check your componets.

I had this happen to me once,, never did figure it out,, ya I got that black screen of death too,,,

ended up buying me a new hard drive in that older computer I had then,,,,

now I just have a New Computer - Amped up with upgrades and componets,,, I did,,

I Feel for Ya,,, it Sucks alright, and its sooo time consuming trying to figure it out,, that Sucks even more !

I'm probably not much help,,, but anyway,,, just a thought !

Thanks Jetranger,

Yes your a big help, anything you can tell me about your past experiences
on this type issue helps brother. :)

I think my hard drive may be going bad (as much as I hate to admit it to myself)
cause it seems to do alot of running & searching without alot of results. It may
just be me but I just have this feeling.

I'm going to knock the dust off the ol'sony and crack her open. It's time to brake
out the old radio shack tool kit and get to work on her. :)

Who knows.. It might just be a dang spider or a stink bug in there somewhere. ;D
I'm just kidding... but either way though.. I have to do that anyway. It's been
a while.

Its a buggar...

I've found that after a few/many years of daily spinning my HDD, it finally decides to go Mammaries-up... :'(..., and unable to properly locate my Operating System, and everything else...

...which then involves starting from scratch, all over again, with a brand-new Hard Drive, and a new OP system installation...!

Mostly occurs when I say I don't believe in God, or the 1969 Moon Landings... ::)..!

...but its nice, every now and again, to start all over again, with a new slate, and tell yourself that everything will now run much smoother...and not mention God and the Moon Landings again....(out loud!)... ;)...!

Paul...with a big pile of scrap HDD's.... ;D...!

Well it's official.. the computer is SMOKED! I even tryed restoring
the whole drive C & D but I get an error "Disk sense:Access Failure"
on disk-1 of the recovery kit.

ALL THAT WORK! :'(

I'm trying not to think to hard about what I had on there, you know...
.. so I don't loose my marbles.

I know I'm not the only one who's lost everything, it just burns my ass
that I couldn't even afford to buy some storage disks or a memory stick
to back my projects up.

The one good thing in this situation is that all the addon files I downloaded
are on DVD media storage. So I don't have to download them all again.

My computer is a 2002 sony, I wish I could have backed those project files
up on the DVD's but my old computer wouldn't recognize them as storage
media. It would read them but not write to them. Bummer!

Ya know what, I souldn't even be complaining about this. with all the people
around the world going through really bad situations in there lives, It's
disrespecting them.

Well, I got a good run out of the old computer. She was free (out of the trash!)
and all the files were freeware. ((Thank you to all))

I'm not going to be flying anymore because I can't afford a computer or a hard
drive. Maybe something will come up. I might take it over to this computer shop
across town to see what he can come up with when I do get a couple bucks.

Yeah Paul, when I was up stairs trying to restore her back to factory settings, I
was thinking about how nice FS9 was going to run by starting fresh. But those
dreams were "Dashed to bits by the jagged rocks bellow!" :-/

Thats Funny ===> " Paul...with a big pile of scrap HDD's "

Your a real good dude Paul! 8-)

It's true to... I think we all have old hard drives laying around, along with old
memory cards and old video cards and a bunch of those IDE straps........

It's a shame none of it is really good for anything anymore. I don't know why
I hold on to it, Pack-Rat I guess. :)

... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

Dwayne... ;)..!

I have a spare room, crammed to the ceiling with old computers, hardware and software, etc, dating from the early 1980's... :D...!

As a committed Hermit, I never throw anything away even though most of it is of no practical use now...(I just like looking at it, to remember old times, long ago)...

Hey Paul,

Yeah, on that, heres the sitchimatation, a few years back I was married to a
wonderful-ly miserable B@%#H. So we got a divorce.

At that time my dad got sick (C). I moved into my parents house to help my
mom and dad and to help around the house.

Well my dad passed away in 2009 and I stayed here to help mom and have
been here ever since. Mom is 74 years old, she needs the help.

The computer I'm posting on is mom's. Mine is up stairs on the third-floor. I
don't have internet on mine. Not that it matters anymore. >:(

The DVD's I was using for the addon downloads are from mom's private stash. :-X
No.. She don't care.

AND NO.. I DON'T ACT LIKE NOR DO I LOOK LIKE THAT LITTLE FAT DUDE ON
"THE KING OF QUEENS"..... ;D..... :-/.. But I do like star trek!

The one thing I'm really happy about my FSX failing to install on my new Windows 8 hi tech machine, is the fact that I can run FS9 at full throttle and enjoy some of my Viejo aeroplanes :)

Thank you Paul.. :)

It's really.. really a bummer man.

Last night I hooked up the old 'Dell' computer to try and see if I could get some kind of flying
in. I deleted alot of files from the Dell to make room for FS9 and installed it.

The Dell only has a 10-Gig hard drive but I managed to pry 4.1-Gig's out of it. It was running
so bad that I deleted FS9. I couldn't get more then 3-FPS and my god did it look terrible.

It's funny how you forget all the modifications you do to the flight sim, with all the addons and
the mod's you make your self. I couldn't beleve how UGLY it was without all the upgrades.

Hat's way off to all you people who create all those addons! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Simply Incredible Difference!

Hello Dwayne..

My old 2005 Dell Tower Computer (BTX case!) with its Pentium 5, dual hyper-threading, 2.8 GHz processor, and  nVidia G-Force 8500 GT 1 GB memory, and a 250 GB SATA HDD, 2,8 GB system memory, runs FS 2004 magnificently .... :D....!

It will even run FSX after a fashion, but with various scenery add-ons included makes it an unpleasant experience...so I stick to my hi-speed FS 2004 with all its add-ons...!

Paul... 8-)...!
