Normalized Starter Torque not working-How to fix ?

Postby Gringo6 » Thu Feb 14, 2013 3:59 pm

I have downloaded and installed Lynn and Bill Lyons wonderful Ryan ST-A and love everything about it except one thing. That is the starter. It won't turn the prop over fast enough to start the engine.

According to the SDK for FS9, the [piston engine ] entry "normalized_starter-torque" can be "modified to increase/decrease the torque supplied by the starter to get the prop turning." Sounds just like what I need, right ? I thought so too.

I've varied this value all the way up and it changes nothing, and varies the cranking speed not one whit.

I cannot find a way to contact them direct or through their web site Custom Classis Aircraft so I'm stuck.

Can anybody tell me how to correct this relatively minor propblem ?

Haven't had FS2004 (or the STA) installed for quite some time, but as I recall some of Bill's classics could be cold blooded...

Try opening the throttle slightly before cranking.

and/or edit the aircraft.cfg..

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type=0
Engine.0=2.400, 0.000, -0.030
fuel_flow_scalar=1.000000
min_throttle_limit=0.000000

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
